Harold Hunter Foundation Launches WeDidIt Fundraising Campaign

NEW YORK, NY – September 25, 2014 – The Harold Hunter Foundation, in association with primary sponsors DC, Zoo York, G-Shock, Volcom, Arnette, Supreme, and World Skateboarding, is proud to announce the 8th Annual Harold Hunter Day is set forSaturday, October 11th, from Noon–5:00pm at NYC’s Coleman Oval/L.E.S. Skatepark under the Manhattan Bridge.

Established in 2006 after Harold’s untimely passing, and managed by the non-profit Harold Hunter Foundation (HHF), Harold Hunter Day VIII will once again unite NYC’s tight-knit skate community for a positive, fun-filled day of skateboarding in memory of Harold. HH Day celebrates what Harold cherished most: skateboarding, music, friends, family, and of course, New York City.

This year’s event will be hosted by professional skateboarder Manny Santiago with support from NYC skate legends Steven Cales, Billy Rohan and Alex Corporan.

Fueled by live music from DJ Smoke L.E.S., Harold Hunter Day VIII will feature an all-ages skate jam with pop-up Best Trick contests, massive product giveaways, and appearances by pro skateboarders Matt Miller, Evan Smith, Wes Kremer, Brandon Westgate, Ron Deily and more, as well as top ams Cyril Jackson, Bobby Dekeyzer,Black Dave and Kevin Tierney.

As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Harold Hunter Foundation relies on support from the skate community and related outlets to achieve its mission of using skateboarding as a vehicle to provide inner-city youth with valuable life experiences that nurture individual creativity, resourcefulness, and the development of life skills.

“Harold always helped and had time for the kids,” says longtime friend and influential New Yorker Dave Ortiz. “The work Harold started is carried forward today through the Harold Hunter Foundation—it continues to help the kids Harold loved while contributing to Harold’s legacy long after his death.”

Since the organization’s inception, more than 100 Skate Camp Scholarships have been awarded to deserving local skaters to attend Camp Woodward and/or the Element YMCA Skate Camp through funds raised by the Harold Hunter Foundation.

This year, in honor of Harold’s 40th Birthday, the HHF is launching a “$40,000 in 40 Days” fundraising campaign. Money raised during the campaign—which launched yesterday—will be used to support the expansion of the Foundation’s programs including Skate Camp Scholarships, Brownsville Summer Skate Program, Kickflip Digital Media Program, and a 2015 International Skate/Service Trip to Cuba.
