If you were lucky enough to know Andy Kessler, then you know that his passion was his bark, his determination was his bite and everyone he encountered became of a fan of his cool. His uncanny knack for cynicism interlaced with an optimistic tone led him to victory with his goal of providing proper terrain for the skaters of New York City and beyond. Tonight was a celebration of this very dream over the concrete playground of The Cove in Santa Monica. 3000 miles east in a NYC warehouse where Andy sessioned often, generations of skaters paid homage to his legacy simultaneously with a memorial session for the record books. The vibe was amazing and everyone skated for the pure fun of riding with your closest friends, the way we remember every session with Andy. Without Kessler, skateboarding would be dramatically different for skateboarders all over the world. You only get an Andy Kessler once in a lifetime and I was honored and privileged to have called him a friend.
