Now in its ninth year, the re-titled Vans Pool Party presented by Pro Tec, exudes an energy unlike any other contest of the year. If you’re looking for coping-cracking, jam-packed skateboarding action, this is it.

What was glaringly obvious from this year’s event is that now is the time, if you haven’t already, to place your bets on the next generation of pool skaters and vert specialists. This is a crew of relentless, young warriors. Skating fast and furiously is the standard for this crew, so the future promises to be bigger and better than we could have ever imagined.

There’s no lack of skate attitude with bros like Greyson Fletcher and his one-footed sock-foot run through the combi, staying on board, while managing to pick up his lost shoe mid-carve. The Fletcher bloodline is in perfectly capable hands with Greyson, and skateboarding should be stoked that he’s killing the concrete and not just the waves.

In the pro division: Bucky, Pedro and Rune placed first, second and third respectively, while Omar, Bucky, Rune and Andy Mac left their indelible mark on the combi with signature moves and endless lines.

You could see the pure dedication and commitment to skateboarding in every line by Pedro Barros, Tom Schaar, Josh Rodriguez, Cory Juneau, Austin Poynter and Giorgio Zattoni.

Miller, Cab and Hosoi, respectively staked their claim to the winnings in the Masters division. McGill, Elguera, Grosso, Guerrero, Ngoho, Sluggo and Duane Peters were all crowd favorites and gave the combi its just due: blood, sweat and plenty of grinds.

Congrats to everyone that entered the contest and much respect to Vans for keeping the stoke going for bowl riding. Hope to see you there next year.
