LEVI’S SKATEBOARDING PROUDLY PRESENTS
BRYCE KANIGHTS: CITY BOYS
The Birth of Street Skating in San Francisco
Please join us on Wednesday, July 8th, from 6-9pm at the Liberty Art Gallery in downtown Long Beach for City Boys: The Birth of Street Skating in San Francisco by legendary photographer Bryce Kanights.
The single image of Mark Gonzales taken by Bryce on Alcatraz Island in 1988 played a huge roll in inspiring the Fall 2015 Levi’s Skateboarding Collection. Come out and see this and many more of Bryce’s iconic images from that era of street skating in and around San Francisco.
Live music will be played by Bryce’s life-long friend and member of the City Boys crew, Tommy Guerrero.
Our good friends at PIZZANISTA! and Pabst Blue Ribbon will be supplying eats and drinks for all.
The first 50 people who bring skateboard decks and trucks in good condition will receive a free T-shirt featuring Bryce’s Gonz photo from Alcatraz. All hardgoods will be donated to the skateboarding youth on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota where Levi’s is currently helping to complete two skate parks that will be finished later this Summer.
A silent auction of all images will take place with all money going directly to the Stronghold Society which is the organization bringing skateboarding to the youth on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
This is a 21+ event.
Look forward to seeing you there!
