The exhibition, supported by\u00a0<strong>adidas Originals<\/strong>, will be the most comprehensive graffiti &amp; street art exhibition to open in the UK, and is set to take over all three floors of London\u2019s iconic Saatchi Gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><em><strong>\u201cA collection of pioneers like these in one place is rare. Youth culture responded by painting graffiti on walls and public transport, creating art that reflected and reimagined the times in an explosion of expression on the streets. These spaces will showcase a wall of&nbsp;<strong>Jenny Holzer\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;truisms;&nbsp;<strong>Henry Chalfant\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;photography of NYC train writers in action; together with&nbsp;<strong>AIKO\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;timeless stenciling of delicate silhouettes and<strong>&nbsp;Gordon Matta-Clark\u2019s<\/strong>extraordinary archive of graffiti photography.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u2018<em>Dream Galleries<\/em>\u2019 chapter focuses on a selection of American and European originators, photo documentarians and cultural icons who helped contextualize and spread graffiti culture around the world. In&nbsp;<strong>Andr\u00e9 Saraiva\u2019s&nbsp;<\/strong><em>Dream<\/em>&nbsp;series, there is a visual articulation of how graffiti, street art, hip-hop, punk, fashion and break-dancing all sprung from the late 1970s and early 1980s into the 90s and today, and became a hybrid celebration of underground culture. Featured artists also include&nbsp;<strong>Mister CARTOON<\/strong>, most famously known for his tattooing and Los Angeles murals; an extraordinary&nbsp;<strong>Beastie Boys<\/strong>&nbsp;installation featuring fashion and ephemera from the band\u2019s prolific history; and&nbsp;<strong>LADY PINK\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;feminist murals, illustrations and paintings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u2018<em>Legends\u2019<\/em>\u00a0chapter will present icons such as legendary NYC artist,\u00a0<strong>Eric HAZE,<\/strong>\u00a0a torch bearer for generations to come; a new large-scale painting by abstract expressionist artist\u00a0<strong>Jos\u00e9 Parl\u00e1<\/strong>; advertisement posters by\u00a0<strong>KAWS<\/strong>, a prominent creative force; and unique ephemera by\u00a0<strong>Keith Haring<\/strong>, one of the most popular street artists of the 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1008\" height=\"1374\" src=\"https:\/\/juicemagazine.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Exclamation-Canvas-2018-FNL-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-94327\" srcset=\"https:\/\/juicemagazine.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Exclamation-Canvas-2018-FNL-copy.jpg 1008w, https:\/\/juicemagazine.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Exclamation-Canvas-2018-FNL-copy-220x300.jpg 220w, https:\/\/juicemagazine.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Exclamation-Canvas-2018-FNL-copy-614x837.jpg 614w, https:\/\/juicemagazine.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Exclamation-Canvas-2018-FNL-copy-768x1047.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1008px) 100vw, 1008px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u2018<em>Blockbusters\u2019<\/em>&nbsp;chapter will include works commissioned specifically for this exhibition by graffiti trailblazers&nbsp;<strong>Shepard Fairey,&nbsp;<\/strong>LA-based activist,and&nbsp;<strong>FAILE,&nbsp;<\/strong>a Brooklyn based artistic duo taking over the streets of NYC since the late 90s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018<em>Larger Than Life\u2019<\/em>&nbsp;chapter will include a site-specific large-scale installation by&nbsp; LA-based icon&nbsp;<strong>Kenny Scharf&nbsp;<\/strong>who will present the largest to date&nbsp;<em>Cosmic Cavern<\/em>; an immersive and interactive installation consisting of Day-Glo paintings, ephemera, and reused materials found in the streets of LA. This chapter will also feature the signature puppet characters made from recycled materials by&nbsp;<strong>Paul Insect<\/strong>, one of London\u2019s original street art pioneers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>\u2018Timeline\u2019<\/em>&nbsp;chapter will take a deep dive into street culture history through archival photography, ephemera and fashion to contextualize the cross-pollination of influences across music, fashion and film.
