Hey, Ivan. How’s it going?<\/strong>
\nGood.<\/p>\n

What grade are you in?<\/strong>
\nSixth.<\/p>\n

How are you doing in school?<\/strong>
\nGood.<\/p>\n

How do you like the teachers?<\/strong>
\nGood.<\/p>\n

That’s good. When did you start surfing?<\/strong>
\nWhen I was about two.<\/p>\n

When did you start skating?<\/strong>
\nI don’t know.<\/p>\n

What’s your scariest surf experience?<\/strong>
\nI was at Pipe and I got stuck inside by a humongous set.<\/p>\n

You couldn’t get out and you couldn’t get in?<\/strong>
\nYeah.<\/p>\n

But here you are. Where are the biggest waves you’ve been surfing?<\/strong>
\nIt was eight foot at this place over by Haleiwa.<\/p>\n

Do you drop in on your mom?<\/strong>
\nNo.<\/p>\n

Do you drop in on your brothers?<\/strong>
\nYeah.<\/p>\n

Do they drop in on you?<\/strong>
\nYeah.<\/p>\n

[Laughs] I heard you gave your brother John John a black eye.<\/strong>
\nYeah.<\/p>\n

Why?<\/strong>
\nHe was doing mean stuff.<\/p>\n

So you took care of it?<\/strong>
\nYeah.<\/p>\n

What happens when a kook drops in on somebody at Pipe?<\/strong>
\nThat kook gets really hurt.<\/p>\n

[Laughs] What’s the best part about surfing with your brothers?<\/strong>
\nIt’s really fun. I like having brothers. If I didn’t have brothers, it wouldn’t be as fun out in the water.<\/p>\n

What’s the worst part about surfing with them?<\/strong>
\nThey gang up on me and push me off the wave, so I can’t get a good wave for a long time.<\/p>\n

You’re a really good paddler, huh?<\/strong>
\nYeah.<\/p>\n

What do you see inside the tube?<\/strong>
\nI see the wave throwing over me and I see the rocks and stuff at the end of the tunnel.<\/p>\n

What do you hear?<\/strong>
\nIt’s the sound of the wave, like \u201cwhoosh.\u201d<\/p>\n

What’s the most magic place you’ve ever been?<\/strong>
\nI like Tahiti and South Africa.<\/p>\n
