Dropkick Murphys<\/strong>\u00a0are preparing to release their 10th\u00a0full-length studio album,\u00a0Turn Up That Dial<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>April 30 via band-owned Born & Bred Records. The album was produced by Ted Hutt and is available for\u00a0pre-order<\/a>, with the new single\u00a0\u201cMiddle Finger\u201d<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0out now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dropkick Murphys\u00a0<\/strong>will preview some tracks from\u00a0Turn Up That Dial<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0when they virtually reunite with fans around the globe for their\u00a0Dropkick Murphys St. Patrick\u2019s Day Stream 2021…Still Locked Down\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>to celebrate St. Patrick\u2019s Day on\u00a0Wednesday, March 17<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a07:00 PM ET \/ 4:00 PM PT<\/strong>. The\u00a0free<\/strong>\u00a0streaming online concert \u2013 with no in-person audience \u2013 will be simulcast worldwide via\u00a0www.DKMstream.com<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and will feature\u00a0Dropkick Murphys\u00a0<\/strong>performing socially distanced on an arena-sized stage with a full LED screen and a brand new video show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the 11 tracks on Turn Up That Dial<\/em><\/strong>, Dropkick Murphys<\/strong> celebrate the simple pleasure of music, the relief and release from worry that comes when you \u201cturn up that dial\u201d and blast your troubles away. \u201cOn this record, the overall theme is the importance of music, and the bands that made us who we are,\u201d explains DKM<\/strong> founder and co-lead vocalist Ken<\/strong> Casey<\/strong>. \u201cWe just hope [the album] takes people\u2019s minds off their troubles. We\u2019re so fortunate and grateful to be in the position to share a little happiness in our own way. Our gratitude levels are off the chart. 25 years ago, somebody bet me 30 bucks I couldn\u2019t form a band with three weeks\u2019 notice to open for his band. As kids, we\u2019d never been out of New England and here we are \u2013we\u2019ve made ten records and have been all over the globe. If there\u2019s a message to this album, it\u2019s \u2018put your fist up and play it loud.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ufeffOver the last two years, following a surgery, bassist\/co-lead vocalist Casey<\/strong> stopped playing, passing bass duties to longtime friend and road crew member Kevin Rheault<\/strong>. With Casey<\/strong> off his leash and free to roam the front of the stage with co-lead vocalist Al Barr<\/strong>, a new, powerful dynamic has ignited between the two. After a couple hundred shows of the untethered duo shredding stages all over the world, their long-standing vocal trade-off explodes out of the speakers better than ever on Turn Up That Dial<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volume cranked, heads held high, smiles wide, eyes on the prize, Dropkick Murphys<\/strong> charge forward with the same spirit that brought them here in the first place\u2026yet with a new determination and exuberance that brings both the live show and this album to the next level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hunkered down at home during the pandemic,\u00a0Dropkick Murphys<\/strong>\u00a0staved off depression by leaning on the music and leaning on each other. As they have since 1996, they began throwing down rousing\u00a0tracks\u00a0that span the gap from punk rock ragers\u00a0to melodic, Irish-inspired tunes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working out of Q Division Studios in Somerville, MA with longtime producer Ted Hutt, they recorded Turn Up That Dial <\/em><\/strong>in shifts of two members at a time. For the final weeks of recording, Hutt ran the sessions via video conference from his studio in LA. For background vocals, the guys set up separate mics in five different rooms so they could all simultaneously sing safely. \u201cWe were all looking at each other out the window, at least,\u201d recalls Casey<\/strong>.  <\/s><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dropkick Murphys<\/strong>\u00a0steamrolled their way through the album with a string of anthems, starting with the title track.\u00a0\u201cTurn Up That Dial\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0lays bare the whole point of the collection in the first verse: \u201cYou\u2019re my inspiration, you got something to say \/Now turn up that dial \u2018til it takes me away.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>It\u2019s easy to imagine the band members thinking back to their teenage selves: blasting The Clash on a Walkman, feeling their favorite bands were sticking up for them more than anyone else in the world. This album is fueled by those bands that captured the energy of the streets, distilled life\u2019s complexities to raging choruses, and were constant companions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
