New Hope Road, Raleigh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skate4Life is a free,\nfamily-friendly event featuring music, food and raffle prizes. Designed to\ncelebrate athletes and life, the occasion also educates teens and their\nfamilies on the signs and symptoms of mental illness, depression and suicide\nand highlights available resources in times of despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was created in\nmemory of James \u201cDylan\u201d McNeill and Cody Nelson Arrington, both of whom\ntragically ended their own lives in 2011.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are thrilled to\nannounce that skateboarding legend BILL DANFORTH will be attending this year\u2019s\nevent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Registration for the\nskate competition begins at 10 a.m. followed by a brief memorial to those lost\nto suicide. Competitions get underway at 12 p.m. and continue throughout the\nafternoon, ending&nbsp;around 5 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prizes valued over $1,500\nwill be presented to first through fourth place finishers in the Beginner,\nIntermediate, Advanced and Sponsored divisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no cost to participate\nand registration is on site starting at 10 a.m. Registered skaters will receive\na free meal, a S4L T-shirt and wristband.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skate4Life (S4L) is a 501(c)(3)\nnon-profit organization. All monies raised during the May 20 event will go to\nS4L for the purpose of providing additional events that celebrate life and agencies\nthat educate the community on the signs of depression and suicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sponsorships and vending opportunities are available.
