Photo by Jeremy Meek.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As soon as the ribbon was cut by students to officially open the Skate School, girls took to the new 500 square meter skatepark to put on a demo for the crowd\u200a\u2014\u200adropping in from the highest ramps and showing off new skills they had already learned on the concrete features built by\u00a0<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newlineskateparks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.newlineskateparks.com\/\"><strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\">New Line Skateparks<\/strong><\/a>. Photo by Jeremy Meek.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Skateistan first began running programs in Phnom Penh in 2011, but moved to this new location, within the creative hub of\u00a0<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.factoryphnompenh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.factoryphnompenh.com\/\"><strong class=\"markup--strong markup--p-strong\">Factory Phnom Penh<\/strong><\/a>, to better meet the needs of local children, in particular girls and children living with disabilities. 240 children and youth are currently part of the programs (Outreach, Skate and Create and Youth Leadership) in Phnom Penh, of which 53% are girls. The Skate School was designed by architects at <a href=\"http:\/\/skateistan.cmail20.com\/t\/j-l-bxiudd-bjytump-jl\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Atelier Cole<\/b><\/span><\/a>, with input from local Skateistan staff and the skate community, and\u00a0built in partnership with <a href=\"http:\/\/skateistan.cmail20.com\/t\/j-l-bxiudd-bjytump-jr\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Building Trust <\/b><\/span><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/skateistan.cmail20.com\/t\/j-l-bxiudd-bjytump-jy\/\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>International<\/b><\/span><\/a>.
