\nI\u2019m always riding the same set up: 8.5 Arbor Whiskey deck, 8.5 Caliber hollow standards, Bones Swiss, Bones 55 V5\u2019s, Mob grip and Indy hardware.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the most fun DIY, skater-built or renegade spot that you\u2019ve skated lately?<\/strong>
\nCleveland has this epic spot called Fun Wall. It\u2019s amazing! All the heavy skaters in the area built it and the foundation is huge!<\/p>\n

Have you ever built something to skate?<\/strong>
\nI used to have a few mini ramps in my backyard in upstate New York with a fly out to a vert wall. Those were the good ole days.<\/p>\n

Who do you like to skate with the most these days?<\/strong>
\nMickey O\u2019Keefe, Sam Baker, Haden McKenna, Sean Imes, but most of the time I like my own solo adventures. Acid Drop.<\/p>\n

Coolest skateboard graphic you have seen lately?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m just focused on pushing my wood. Graphics aren\u2019t too important to me anymore, but I do have to say I\u2019m so into whatever Blood Wizard is doing. Shout out to those guys!<\/p>\n

Best thing you\u2019ve ever skated in a skatepark and what skatepark was it?<\/strong>
\nThe Venice Beach snake run never seems to fail me.<\/p>\n

Favorite skateboarders of all time?<\/strong>
\nThe Gonz! Rodney Mullen, Daewon Song, John Cardiel and Tony Trujillo.<\/p>\n

Is there anything that hasn\u2019t been built to skate yet that you\u2019d like to see built?<\/strong>
\nPump track on steroids!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s one of the best road trips you ever took?<\/strong>
\nHawaii with the Arbor crew for sure!<\/p>\n

\nNot really, my bad.<\/p>\n

\nIt rules! I have a four-year-old daughter and she is almost as into\u00a0it as much as I am! Power to them!<\/p>\n

Do you think skateboarding should be in the Olympics?<\/strong>
\nIt doesn\u2019t matter to me. I\u2019ll always be pushing.<\/p>\n

What is your proudest moment in skateboarding so far?<\/strong>
\nIt\u2019s going to sound weird, but I had a deep conversation with Rodney Mullen not long ago and that was a dream come true.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE JUICE MAGAZINE STATE OF SKATE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

When we started Juice Magazine 22 years ago, you could count the number of skateparks on one hand and grindable pool coping was mostly a distant memory. Now there are thousands of skateparks all over the world, along with a vast quantity of DIY spots built to skate. In 1993, the majority of skateboarders listened to punk rock or hip hop exclusively. Now skateboarders listen to almost every kind of sound created. Two decades ago, skateboarding related charities were non-existent. Today, there are numerous non-profits giving back to skateboarding in many ways. One of the most important differences between now and then is that, 22 years ago, there was a clear division between old school and new school skateboarding. Now that wall of separation has followed the same path as the Berlin Wall, allowing for an unprecedented unification of skateboarders all over the globe. Great strides have been made for girls that skate as well as the acceptance of skate history and long overdue recognition for skateboarding\u2019s pioneers and its artifacts. At the same time, the current generation of skateboarders is taking skateboarding to new heights, previously unimaginable. As the landscape of the skateboarding industry changes on a daily basis, and the topic of skateboarding in the Olympics rears its head once again, along with the disturbing subject of who controls skateboarding being tossed about by corporate entities, we decided it was time to take a good look at the State of Skate. We asked 20 questions to 100 skateboarders, ages 8 to 58, and found that skateboarding is as diverse as the skateboarders that are addicted to it, no one controls skateboarding except skateboarders, and the State of Skate is savage and strong.
