Juice Magazine, Skeleton Key Mfg and The Loud Ones present\u00a0this original interview series, “In The Van” by\u00a0punker skate rockers, the Loud Ones, as they motor\u00a0through\u00a0the country and temporarily kidnap interesting characters in their renovated touring machine while\u00a0sedating them with beers and questions. Today’s episode features the original Loud One, Fred Smith.<\/p>\n

“Freddie was the first skater I met that had tats. The Loud Ones showed up at the Ocean Bowl for a contest driving a big old Pontiac. Fred worked on cars at the time, so they always made it somehow. We became friends instantly. He spent a summer living at my house. My mom welcomed him like another son. Everybody tried to be like Freddie. He’s got a lot of charisma. He sold more boards than anyone. Lots of style, just ripped it up. I was the third person he tattooed and, from there, a tattoo artist was born. All around good dude. We had many good times…We recruited victims to tat off the boardwalk at nite. Skated all day. Good times.” \u2013 Josh Marlowe<\/p>\n
