The Biggest Surf Event in North Florida!<\/b><\/p>\n

The 32nd Annual WaveMasters Pro\/Am, presented by TacoLu Restaurant, is just weeks away!\u00a0The weather, waves, crowd, competition, and all the activity on the beach always result in a spectacular weekend\u00a0of family fun for the competitors and thousands of spectators.<\/p>\n

The annual Wave Masters Pro\/Am is North Florida’s showcase surf event, held on May 2-3, 2015 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. For over 30 years, it has served as the stepping stone for talent emerging from the Jacksonville area.\u00a0Over 300 of the Southeast’s top pros and amateurs gather for a weekend of fun and rivalry as they compete for thousands of dollars in cash prizes and the trademark balsa wood trophies.<\/p>\n

HISTORY<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 contest was started as a Pro\/Am in 1984 by Bill Hixon & Sandy Forsyth, owners of the two biggest surf shops in town. Both adept businessmen, they knew a big Pro\/Am would ignite a new stoke on the local surf scene, as well as help raise the image of surfing as a viable sport. Bringing top pros from around the world could only raise the performance of local surfers. The first few years were very successful, but the pro purses were a financial burden, resulting in dropping the pro divisions. Every year the contest has grown in size and\u00a0 popularity. The pro event was reintroduced about seven years ago as a way to give our local amateurs a chance to mingle with and compete against a higher level competitor. This really helps heighten the energy level on the beach and raises the bar in the water as well.<\/p>\n

Men’s Pro – $3,000 1st place<\/p>\n

Women’s Pro – $2,000 1st place<\/p>\n

Longboard Pro – $1,500 1st place<\/p>\n

Please note – All divisions must have at least six entrants to hold that divisions event.<\/p>\n

Entry\u00a0Fees – $40 per person per amateur division (before April 30, 2015). $50 thereafter. Professional women and longboard divisions are $50 per person and the Pro Men’s Division is $75 per person.<\/p>\n
