In U.K. punk, that seed was The Damned. Not only were they the first to pump out a single on vinyl, but they were also the first to cross the Atlantic and tour the U.S., inspiring millions with singles like &#8220;Love Song&#8221; and who could forget <i>Machine Gun Etiquette,<\/i>\u00a0not to mention their NINE (9) singles that hit the U.K. Top 40, catapulting punk to national popularity and international recognition.<\/p>\n<p>The Damned Documentary: Don&#8217;t You Wish That We Were Dead trailer<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GVI8SOt3OvI\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With this roster of accomplishments, it&#8217;s no surprise filmmaker, Wes Orshoski, decided to bring The Damned\u00a0story to life in his new documentary <i>The Damned: Don&#8217;t You Wish That We Were Dead<\/i>. The film features appearances from Chrissie Hynde, Mick Jones (The Clash), Lemmy and members of Pink Floyd, Black Flag, GNR, the Sex Pistols, Blondie, Buzzcocks, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Shot around the globe over three years, the film charts the band&#8217;s complex history and infighting, as it celebrated its 35th anniversary and found its estranged former members striking out on their own anniversary tour&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The film will debut at the <a href=\"http:\/\/schedule.sxsw.com\/2015\/events\/event_FS17986\" target=\"_blank\">SXSW Film Festival<\/a> in Texas on March 20th.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nbAyW-_3UyE\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Movements have many roots, but there is always a seed before they sprout.
