In the final round of\u00a0voting, Bethany Hamilton defeated fellow Kauai surfer Tatiana\u00a0Weston-Webb with a tail-high air reverse to take the win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Hamilton&#8217;s victory was sweetened by a $50,000 donation of Ambry Genetic\u00a0testing vouchers on her behalf to Cancer Research Collaboration\/Breastlink based in Orange County, CA. Weston-Webb&#8217;s second place\u00a0finish saw $30,000 in vouchers go to Jefferson Breast Care Center in\u00a0Philadelphia, PA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The two semifinalists &#8211; Sally Fitzgibbons and Laura\u00a0Enenver &#8211; earned $10,000 for University of Texas Foundation and\u00a0Thompson Cancer Survival Center, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The remaining 12 surfers\/clinics that participated in the Battle for\u00a0the Breasts will each receive one BRCA 1 &amp;2 testing voucher from the\u00a0Mauli Ola Foundation courtesy of Ambry Genetics.\u00a0&#8220;Battle for the Breasts is a great cause and also a great way to\u00a0showcase women&#8217;s surfing,&#8221; Bethany Hamilton said. &#8220;I was stoked to be\u00a0representing BreastLink. It made me feel special because I was working\u00a0hard for something beyond myself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">For Hamilton and Weston-Webb, the road to the final wasn&#8217;t exactly\u00a0easy. With a stacked field of the world&#8217;s best female surfers filling\u00a0the draw, Hamilton overcame Alana Blanchard (R1), Alessa Quizon (R2)\u00a0and Sally Fitzgibbons (R3) with a collection of A-plus clips assembled\u00a0while filming for her new movie in Bali. On the other side of the draw,<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Weston-Webb took out Tyler Wright (R1), Dimity Stoyle (R2), and Laura\u00a0Enever (R3) with a series of barrel-to-carve combos, a late drop over a\u00a0razor-sharp Tahitian reef as well as a massive barrel ride at Teahupoo.\u00a0&#8220;Huge congratulations to Bethany,&#8221; said Hans Hagen, Executive Director\u00a0of Mauli Ola Foundation. &#8220;She has been nothing short of an inspiration\u00a0for everyone to fight the good fight. Her donation of the Ambry testing\u00a0vouchers to the team at Cancer Research Collaboration\/BreastLink will\u00a0assist in their mission of saving lives through early detection,\u00a0research and treatment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;We&#8217;re so proud to have been paired with Bethany,&#8221; said BreastLink&#8217;s\u00a0Dr. Lisa Curcio. &#8220;These vouchers are a great opportunity for our\u00a0patients who are under insured or have no insurance and don&#8217;t have\u00a0access to genetic testing. They ultimately help us test them to monitor\u00a0for cancer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">&#8220;We were very pleased to have the opportunity to support the healthcare\u00a0community with genetic testing vouchers for breast cancer patients\u00a0through Battle for the Breasts,&#8221; said Ambry Genetics President James\u00a0Dunlop. &#8220;The key to beating cancer is early detection and we hope that\u00a0this modest contribution saves as many lives as possible. The battle\u00a0has just begun.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The inaugural Battle for the Breasts featured sixteen of the world&#8217;s\u00a0best female surfers competing for votes in an online video contest\u00a0format during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
