John Van Hamersveld \u00a0on his\u00a0“1963 Makaha Skateboard Sidewalk Surfing”. It all started with steel skates nailed to a 2×4 in 1953,\u00a061 years ago.<\/p>\n

John Van Hamersveld has a new mural, tiled into ten 4’x5′ units to create one giant\u00a0artistic statement, in the main entrance to\u00a0the Topaz San Pedro building, located at 222 West 6th Street, just down the street from Van Hamersveld’s new gallery space,Post-Future: The Art Co.<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Williams Book Store at 443 West\u00a06th\u00a0St., San Pedro, CA.<\/p>\n

This is just one of the many incredible\u00a0activities, JVH has undertaken recently. John Van Hamersveld and Dave Tourje have completed a variety of creative-driven projects including gathering\u00a0an art posse to be reckoned with in the California Locos crew of John Van Hamersveld, Dave Tourje, Gary Wong, Norton Wisdom and Chaz Bojorquez. The installation of their art at the Red Pipe Gallery and the Medina Gallery in Chinatown, Los Angeles, CA, made for one of the best events of Summer 2014<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tourje also orchestrated a partnership with Larry Bertlemann and Van Hamersveld for\u00a0a Bertlemann graphic tribute, as John Van Hamersveld and Larry Bertlemann were both inducted into the Surfing Walk of Fame this summer.<\/p>\n

Next up on the agenda will be an East Coast appearance during\u00a0Art Basel as Tourje and Van Hamersveld\u00a0take the\u00a0California Locos art to Miami, Florida, Dec 2-7, 2014.<\/p>\n

CALIFORNIA LOCOS, represented by Coagula Curatorial\u2019s Mat Gleason, brings over 50 years of\u00a0Southern California art culture\u00a0to Context Miami, December 2-7, 2014. The traveling show,\u00a0which premiered with\u00a0positive press and curious crowds\u00a0in Los Angeles\u00a0earlier this year, features the work of legendary artists Chaz Bojorquez, Dave Tourj\u00e9, John Van Hamersveld, Norton Wisdom and Gary Wong: artists who are deeply rooted in the Southern California landscape, each having been influenced and inspired by the\u00a0surf, skate, punk rock, and the barrio culture that is Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
