Now here’s an upcoming movie that looks damn good. Don Cheadle will make his feature directorial debut in addition to portraying Miles Davis in an upcoming biopic from BiFrost Pictures, entitled Kill the Trumpet Player.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Los Angeles, CA<\/b>\u00a0\u2014 Don Cheadle,\u00a0Ewan McGregor, and Zoe Saldana will star in BiFrost Pictures\u2019 KILL THE TRUMPET PLAYER, it was announced today.\u00a0\u00a0KILL THE TRUMPET PLAYER\u00a0tells the story of\u00a0a\u00a0few dangerous days\u00a0in the life of\u00a0Miles Davis,\u00a0the\u00a0virtuoso, fighter\u00a0and\u00a0genius,\u00a0as he bursts\u00a0out of his silent period\u00a0and conspires with a Rolling Stone writer\u00a0(McGregor) to steal back his music.<\/p>\n

Cheadle will play Davis and will make his feature directorial debut from a script co-written with Steven Baigelman.<\/p>\n

BiFrost principal Daniel Wagner is financing and will produce the project along with Robert Ogden Barnum, Cheadle and Lenore Zerman for their Crescendo Productions banner, Darryl Porter, and Vince Wilburn Jr. Executive producers are Pamela Hirsch, Cheryl\u00a0Davis, Erin Davis,\u00a0and Baigelman.\u00a0Herbie Hancock, a legend in his own right and close collaborator of Davis, will participate in the project as well. The project was packaged by UTA which arranged the financing and is representing U.S. rights.\u00a0Leading international films sales company IM Global is handling international distribution and will be introducing the title at the upcoming American Film Market.<\/p>\n

Wagner commented, \u201cDon is one of our generation\u2019s greatest actors, and this is the role he was born to play. His take on the conventional biopic of one of music\u2019s most celebrated icons is cinematic\u00a0\u201cjazz\u201d<\/i>\u00a0and too unique to resist. It fits naturally with BiFrost\u2019s commitment to support talent and their passion projects, so we are thrilled to work with Don on his feature directorial debut.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cheadle is best known for roles in CRASH, Steven Soderbergh\u2019s OCEAN’S TWELVE and OCEAN\u2019S THIRTEEN, as well as for his Academy Award-nominated performance as Best Actor in 2004\u2019s HOTEL RWANDA.\u00a0 He has most recently been seen as Colonel James Rhodes in IRON MAN 3 and as Marty Kaan in the Showtime series \u201cHouse of Lies,\u201d for which he won a Golden Globe in 2013. Cheadle is represented by UTA.<\/p>\n

McGregor is best known for his roles in THE IMPOSSIBLE, GHOST WRITER, BEGINNERS, MOULIN ROUGE, TRAINSPOTTING and the STAR WARS franchise.\u00a0 McGregor was nominated for a Golden Globe last year for his work on the feature SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN.\u00a0 He will next be seen in the crime drama SON OF A GUN and he is currently shooting MORTDECAI opposite Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow.\u00a0 McGregor is represented by UTA, Sloane Offer and United Agents in the UK.<\/p>\n
