San Diego Music Thing<\/a> comes to… San Diego! I’ve been checking out festivals lately and I’m excited that this one is coming to my backyard. The “thing” aims to provide two days of music at multiple locations across the San Diego city area including personal favorite The Void<\/a>. The full venue and performer lists are below, but you can see the event lineup and links here.<\/p>\n

Taking an approach reminiscent of SXSW in its very<\/em> early stages, the festival has decided to include workshops, panels and speakers<\/a> into the set list. My interest peaked when I heard that Sonic Youth siren Kim Gordon will be one of the speakers. Drag yourself to SD and discover some music, or at least come have a beer.<\/p>\n

MUST SEE SHOW<\/strong> – FIDLAR w\/ The Widows, Sculpins & The Frights @ Queen Bee’s. Really excited to see FIDLAR and The Widows tear it up at Queen Bee’s on Friday. Fidlar is a surf\/skate rock band right down to their Vans and they’ve made more than a splash with their self-titled debut album, so I figured I’d give them a chance to make me a real fan<\/em>. The Widows are a local SD favorite of mine and if you haven’t seen them yet, GO!<\/strong> I’ve only seen them once, but they’re definitely worth the drive and I’ve got the stoke for round two.<\/p>\n
