Shogo Kubo Memorial Skate Session. July 19, 2014 at the Venice Skatepark, Venice Beach, California… The Venice community gathered deep to give a warriors send off for our fallen brother, Shogo Kubo. A session at the Venice park with a dedication mural of Shogo painted in the deep end of the bowl went down with style and fury. Everyone who skated went hard and paid tribute to Shogo’s legacy with the type of energy you could feel and some of the smoothest style yet at one time. Christian Hosoi, Jesse Martinez, Pat Ngho, and Bennett Harada all dropped in together to set things off in Shogo’s honor and this was a session that will be remembered forever. Rest In Paradise, Shogo Kubo.

In the 80s I wanted a pro board so bad had a Sears Roebuck board we were living in the projects in Stamford ct at that time. My pops was poor he said you save half I’ll pay the other half . Got a paper route got the money and headed to the Scandinavian Ski shop on 57th in New York City when my and pop got there there must of been a 100 boards their all I saw was Shugos board me being 1/2 Japanese it was no question. Rode that board for years .Loved Shugo Kubo to me he was my mentor my god my idol from a guy I never met, In my life he will be sorely missed by me
