N-4 Life: The Untold Story of the N-Men

In 1975, a group of rowdy teenagers in Sacramento, California started skating empty swimming pools. What sets them apart? They’ve never stopped.

Their impact on the world of skateboarding has been global. Over the past 40 years, they have influenced many of the best pro skaters in the world and have continued to remain relevant to the sport and to the industry. They kept their pools a secret and few have heard of them. They were inclusive, never exclusive. If you could find them, keep up with them and charge hard, you were one of them. It was never about fame or fortune, just the pure soul of hardcore skating. It was and is a movement.

Their story has never been told. Until now.

Filmmaker Info:

“My name is James Sweigert. I am a filmmaker and a Sacramento native currently residing in Los Angeles. I first saw the N-Men in 1976 when I became a member of the Sierra Wave Skateboard Park in Rancho Cordova, California. I saw them and skated with them a few times through the ’80s, then I lost touch. 25 years later, I found them and they are still at it. They have never stopped. It inspired me to produce and direct a documentary about this legendary crew of men, and now women, and we are scheduled to release the film in 2015 for the 40th Anniversary of the N-Men.

  1. Hi my name is Byran. I was young when my dad first took me to Sierra Wave as I grew up in Rancho and I am still residing. As I got a little older a friend of mine Bill Birdsong took me to 7 bridges skatepark where there is now a Target store. It was closed and we would go in and ride our bikes down the snake and around the bowl at the end above the water line. We then got into skateboarding and I’ve loved it ever since. So I don’t know if you ever made it to the Tylenol Capsel we called it. Over near Aerojet a huge cylinder that was white and looked like a Tylenol. A hole was welded into the end to climb inside. It was huge and all metal off white Rock Rd. We went there and it was just a renegade moment in my life, frikn awesome place when your like 15. So I myself thought of a making a movie from that era. With bmx at devil’s jumps or the uhils, skimboarding as well as skiboarding with a rope tied to a tree and a garage door spring. We even took down a flagpole into the parking lot at Cordova Meadows elementary, took off the ball and cable, made a huge rope swing in Goethe PK. So a movie in the feel of Dog Town I thought would be cool with the music and adventure.
