Dave Tuck Memorial Pool Jam 2015

Announcing the 2nd Annual Dave Tuck Memorial Pool Jam at the Ann Arbor Skate Park on June 27, 2015 from 12:00-6:00pm. This event is a benefit for Grind For Life and Strap In For Life – two 503.c nonprofit organizations that provide support to skateboarders and snowboarders and their families who have been impacted by cancer.

Grind for Life was founded by Professional Skateboarder and two time cancer survivor Mike Rogers. The mission of the Grind For Life organization is to provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families when traveling long distances to doctors and hospitals. In addition, we educate and inspire these patients and families concerning cancer survival and recovery.

Inspired by the support he received from Mike and Grind For Life, Dave Tuck founded Strap In For Life during his illness. Strap In For Life is dedicated to improving the lives of snowboarders and their families who are impacted by cancer by providing on-mountain experiences to relieve stress and increase their quality of life.

The 2nd Annual Dave Tuck Memorial Pool Jam will be held at the Ann Arbor Skate Park, located in Veterans Memorial Park, 350 N. Maple Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103.

The public is invited to come enjoy many activities at the event, including the following:

● Skateboarding by pro and amateur skaters from Michigan and around the country

● Bowl contests for all skill levels, with prize packages donated by local and national skate companies and other businesses. Registration for contests begins at noon. Beginner bowl jam starts at 1:30 pm, intermediate bowl jam at 2:30 pm, and advanced bowl jam at 3:30 pm.

● Silent Auction featuring art by Shep Fairey (OBEY/GIANT) and other donations from artists and local and national businesses, and more.

Please join us for an afternoon of family-friendly fun to help keep Dave Tuck in our hearts, and help out people who are battling cancer.

Background:

Dave Tuck was born on August 1, 1969. He grew up in Ann Arbor MI, and attended Burns Park, Tappan, and Community High schools. Dave was integral to the creation of the first Ann Arbor city-operated Skateboard facility, the ‘City Ramp’ at Veterans Memorial Park. He represented Ann Arbor, and his adopted home in Colorado, throughout the national skateboard and snowboard scenes and industries, earning love and admiration everywhere he went. In the battle with pancreatic cancer that finally took his life on July 20, 2013, Dave was an example to everyone around him of what a life worth living is all about. He was brave, honest, loving, dedicated to his wife, children, and friends, and to doing what he loved to do the most, until the very end.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at all levels. See contact info below.
