July 31, 2014 (Seattle, WA) – We’ve been announcing our lineup in small bites, but with the deadline for press credential applications rapidly approaching, we wanted to take the time to make sure the big (and we do mean BIG!) picture is clear: Bumbershoot is much more than a music festival. Or even a music and comedy festival. Or a music/comedy/film festival.

No other arts festival takes place in the shadow of the Space Needle, nor do they boast the writers of The Simpsons and The Onion appearing alongside such diverse talent as The Replacements, Bootsy Collins, Mac Demarco, Foster the People, Nada Surf, novelist Tom Robbins, Doug Benson taping his Doug Loves Movies podcast, The Improvised Shakespeare Company, W. Kamau Bell, Ted Alexandro, the globe-trotting and award-winning theatre simple, the 1 Reel Short Film Festival (curated by the Seattle International Film Festival), and a cornucopia of regional talent that includes The Head and the Heart, Pickwick, Bill Nye the Science Guy and 74-time Jeopardy! winner Ken Jennings.

Even our Youngershoot Kids Zone (geared toward the under-10 crowd and their guardians) is rockin’. Ex-Velocity Girl/current singer of kindie-rock sensations The Not-Its! Sarah Shannon will be on hand to boost learning through music with her educational program Rock-A-Boo. School of Rock’s Little Wings program will do the same, alongside 20-plus other kid-friendly performers and activities.

A Seattle original for 44 years (that’s almost four and a half decades!), Bumbershoot is the granddaddy of all festivals, and in a category all its own. To take a gander at our complete, stuffed-to-the-gills-with-every-kind-of-good-stuff lineup, visit bumbershoot.org/lineup. To view the schedule by day, visit bumbershoot.org/lineup/schedule.
