Bands like this are super rad because they are the only ones that can find that perfect eerie equilibrium between a tinny bathroom recording drone and a cat scratch vocal. BWSG has the ability to send you back to that high school mentality. One of our favorites, this band rips straight to the core without mainstream influence. Enjoy.

Burnt Witch Survivors Group is a three-piece post-punk/garage band from Winnipeg, Canada. Their sound is known for their distorted vocals, fuzzed bass, choppy guitar and manic drums. They have been said to resemble a mixture of such acts as The Kills, Mudhoney and Bikini Kill.

As teens, Jordsy (Vocals, Bass), Jer (Vocals, Guitar) and Ryley (Drums) were all once part of the Winnipeg-based hardcore punk outfit The Caustic. Years later, they reconnected in early 2011 to form BWSG.

Soon after the formation of the band, they self-recorded and released a 3-track demo which charted locally on campus radio. Though completed in the fall of 2011, their 6-track debut album Support EP was released formally in February 2012 alongside their first music video for the album’s opener “I Wanna Be.”

Support EP has received rave reviews from local magazines and online sites, cited as loud, energetic and exhilarating. Winnipeg’s appraised Uptown Magazine gave the EP 4.5/5 and went as far to say, “It’s a good thing it’s only 22 minutes long, because civilization wouldn’t survive if it were any longer.”
