SMA presents Love and Respect Photo Show

Love and Respect was the theme of the evening, which perfectly described the mood of opening night for this weekend-long art exhibit. Expertly curated by Kelly Jackson, this eclectic variety of photography included highlights of the pioneering days of Venice street skating, the golden years of surfing in Malibu, portraits of local surfing and skateboarding luminaries, as well as iconic images of lifelong family and friends. Highly accomplished shutterbugs displayed a caveat of some of their finest works, and many were in attendance to talk story and enjoy the Delicious Pizza and other libations provided. Delicious Pizza sits just south of the hip Fairfax/Melrose region of Los Angeles, in an area quickly on the come-up, and played a perfect host to the surf/skate/street vibe of the night. The show had a homecoming/family reunion type of excitement and what a way for Bagel to spend his birthday with the homies. Happy Birthday, Bagel! DJ Samurasta and DJ Levi took turns on the ones and twos spinning an exceptional mix of music all evening long, providing a perfect soundtrack for the opening reception. The exhibit will remain up through May 29, so go to Delicious Pizza and grab a slice and feast your eyes on some amazing photography that will transcend you into an elevated time and place of unity and innovation.
