BELGIUM SKATE JAM – The Bocal Mostard crew is organizing a big party on September 27, 2008 to celebrate the 30th birthday of the snakerun of Liage (Luik/Lattich in Belgium). PODIUM DISTRIBUTION NEWS – Torrance, California-based Podium Distribution has just expanded both its walls and its employee base. The company recently acquired the 21,000-square-foot office space adjacent to its existing 955 Francisco Street address. According to Podium VP Brian Dunlap, the extra space was long overdue. ‘Since our move here in 2000, we’ve added tons of new employees,’ says Dunlap. ‘Our once nice work environment turned into more of a crammed work environment. Taking over the new building has allowed us to re-create that nice workspace we had before. We’ve also made the strategic business decision to put Galaga in the lunch room.’ In addition to the new offices, the company has allotted a 4,800-square-foot area to serve as its skateboard training facility. ‘We’re stoked to finally have a great place for our riders to come and skate,’ says DVS Skate Team Manager Gabe Clement. Erik Ecklund will serve as Domestic Sales Manager for DVS and Lakai. Federico Vitetta will serve as Team Manager for Lakai. DVS presents FREAKS AND GREEKDS – DVS Pros Prepare For An Epic Grecian Odyssey – Ever see a skateboarder kickflip the 18-stair in front of the Parthenon? What about backsmiths on 2000-year-old Corinthian columns? Skating the 26 miles from Athens to Marathon? All these things and more will likely go down during DVS’ first ever skate trip to Greece. ‘TIDES OF EMOTION,’ A MOTHER / DAUGHTER EXHIBITION, OPENS ON SANTA MONICA BLUFFS AT JAMES COLEMAN GALLERY SEPTEMBER 27.
