Rell Sunn Aloha Jam

PRESS RELEASE

On November 23th, 2013, at Waimea Valley join us for another night to let loose and enjoy some Hawaiian music with great friends, then dance your heart out with some great local talent. Rell Sunn Aloha Jam brings on the stage to perform: Henry Kapono, John Cruz and Local Musicians with other special guests set to make appearances on this night of aloha that will honor the Queen of Makaha for the Rell Sunn Foundation.

Former Hawaiian Lifeguard and one of the first woman’s Pro Surfers, Rell Sunn was the epitome of the Aloha Spirit, lovingly called the Queen of Makaha and rightly named the Heart of The Sea. Her children’s Menehune Surf Contest was the starting point for many of the top Hawaiian surfers of today and this contest is now in its 38th year! Rell was a well-known water woman, children’s educational advocate, sports caster for ABC Wide World of Sports, Hula Dancer, DJ, and senior advocate. When Rell traveled the world as a pro surfer her grace, talent and spirit of Hawaii made her the ambassador of Aloha to all she met. Sadly Auntie Rell passed away from breast cancer at the young age of 47, but her legacy lives on with plans for The Rell Sunn Bronze Memorial to be placed in Hawaii.

This event will be taking place during the Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing and many of the who’s who of the surfing community will be on hand to make this a memorable night to remember. Doors Open at 5pm. Come feast on 3 awesome pupu stations and enjoy some liquid aloha from Kona Brew and Barefoot Wine – Ticket prices range from $25 to $60.

For more information and to purchase tickets, tables and to make contributions to the Memorial Bronze Statue please visit www.rellsunn.com. Mahalo and we hope to see you there.
