O’MAHONEY MONDAYS: MEET THE O

For all you newbies, I’m the guy doing all the ancient shit. I used to be made out of rubber, like you guys, but when you get old, your whole body turns into a boner. This is a picture I took into the mirrored front door at Skateboard Magazine in 1975. I had hair and a new XATNEP motordrive camera. Life was fuckin’ rad. We got the first urethane wheel, sealed bearings and the kicktail. We rode the first skateparks and were the first at Mt. Baldy and saw all the Signal Hill speed runs. We also got to see the whole thing get squashed around 1979. The slate was cleaned, all the parks were leveled and we were driven back to the streets to start again. It’s only taken 32 years, but now we have them by the balls and we are not leaving. Keep up the good work.
