Check out this two-part video and some sick photos documenting the build of the new Soggybones indoor concrete bowl situated inside the new skate shop in Perth, Western Australia. Congrats to the crew! www.soggybones.com

“THE PLAN WAS TO FIND AN OLD WAREHOUSE CLOSE TO PERTH CITY, TURN IT INTO A CORE SKATE SHOP THAT DOUBLED AS A HEAVY LIVE MUSIC VENUE, AND BUILD A PRIVATE INDOOR BOWL UNDER THE SAME ROOF. THE BOWL HAD TO BE CONCRETE, WITH CONCRETE COPING, FLOW AND TIGHT TRANSITION. WE ALSO HAD TO BUILD UP AS WE COULDN’T DIG DOWN. LIKE ALL GOOD IDEA’S, THIS ONE WAS NUTS AND FULL OF LOOSE ENDS. SITUATED ONLY A 10 MINUTE SKATE FROM PERTH CBD, SMACK BANG ON THE EDGE OF THE MITCHELL / FARMER FREEWAYS, JUST NORTH OF PERTH CBD, OUR NEW HOME WAS FOUND. THE SHED WAS A SKELETON LEFT FOR DEAD, BUT SKATEBOARDING WOULD CHANGE THAT. SHE ALREADY SCREAMED AUTHENTIC CHARACTER, THE TYPE THAT CAME FROM HARDCORE AUSSIE ROOF CARPENTERS THAT BUSTED THEIR BALLS IN THE ’40S AND ’50S. SHE WAS A KEEPER, AND WE WERE ABOUT TO GIVE HER A TREAT. OVER THE NEXT 2 MONTHS, A BUNCH OF SKATEBOARDERS, ALL MATES, ALL LEGENDS, CAME TOGETHER AND GOT TO WORK. CHEERS TO EVERYONE TEX HADLEY AND PAUL THOMAS, EVERYONE ELSE WHO HELPED, BACKED US AND HAS SKATED AND PARTIED WITH US SINCE OUR DOORS OPENED. IF YOU WANT TO COME PAY US A VISIT, WE’RE AT 7 OLD ABERDEEN PLACE, WEST PERTH (BEHIND SPADILLE GARAGE). WE DON’T SELL SCOOTERS.
