Press Release:

MusicfestNW Kicks Off Aug. 16 at New Location:
Historic Tom McCall Waterfront Park at The Downtown Riverfront

Portland, OR (February 12, 2014): MusicfestNW, one of the largest city music festivals in the country, is excited to announce new dates and a larger location for its annual Portland festival. Taking place on August 16th-17th, MusicfestNW will take over the historic and spacious Tom McCall Waterfront Park in the heart of downtown Portland, OR.

The new location provides a central hub right at the heart of Portland’s culture and food scene with great transportation access by car, public transit or bicycle. “The move to Waterfront Park will allow us to accommodate many more people as well as food carts, art, technology and two stages of music into one space and do it at a lower ticket price,” says Trevor Solomon, Executive Director of MusicfestNW.

The festival, a citywide celebration of music, started in 2000 and has grown to include TechfestNW, an innovative tech festival that showcases the booming talent in the tech industry in Portland. Slated for August 15-16, TechfestNW 2014 will include a UX theme (user experience), well-honed speaker programming, a career and recruitment fair, a company exhibition hall, networking opportunities and exclusive parties. More details to be announced in the coming months.

In 2013, over 39,000 music fans attended MusicfestNW from 47 states and 15 countries.

A few of the bands the festival has showcased over the years include: Modest Mouse, The National, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Black Keys, Passion Pit, The Decemberists, Girl Talk, Vampire Weekend, TV On The Radio, Beirut, Explosions In The Sky, Neko Case, Animal Collective Wiz Khalifa, The Kills, Dinosaur Jr, The Hives, Silversun Pickups, Built To Spill, Bad Brains, Sunny Day Real Estate and many, many more.

“The move to August and to the waterfront is part of our continuing effort to produce the best urban festival in the country,” says Solomon, who added that bands will be announced in April.
