Press Release:

The 11th annual Mighty Mama Skate-O-Rama takes place Sunday, May 11 at Laguna Niguel skatepark in Orange County, Calif. This charity event, held every Mothers Day, is a noncompetitive skate jam hosted by Skateboard Moms & Sisters of Shred, a nonprofit organization empowering women through skateboarding. Seventies skate star Robin Logan will be the Mighty Mama’s guest of honor, following in the footsteps of past honorees Patti McGee, Ellen Oneal, Ellen Berryman, Judi Oyama and Laura Thornhill.

The event features the Rockin’ Raffle, with proceeds benefiting Miracles For Kids, which provides support to low-income families with children stricken by cancer and other life-threatening diseases.  The grand prize for 2014 is the “Skate With The Legends” package, featuring a day skating with (and being coached by) a variety of skate stars including Lance Mountain, Mike McGill, Dave Hackett, Steve Olson, Jay Smith, Adrian Demain and Brad Edwards. The finale of this grand prize day will be a private party and BBQ at the Old Bro Ramp in Carlsbad.

Other sponsors include Juice, Gravity, Deckcrafters, Skatopia Skateshop, Madrid, Koastal, Loaded, 187 Killer Pads, Diamond Grind, Toyboarders, Cheapsk8er, Hard Life, Pink Widow, Lorrie Palmos Photography, Rikter, Poetry of Stoke, Skateboard Cow and many more.

About 100 women are expected to roll at the event along with several of the grand prize skate legends. The event is open to the public but organizers politely ask male skaters to keep a “Ladies First” attitude.

Laguna Niguel skatepark requires full gear and charges a $10 daily fee plus a signed waiver. The event begins at 11 am.
