The Northwest has spawned a new generation of rippers that bleed daily for the lifestyle we dream of; blood, sweat and beers as they say. Kevin Kowalski is undoubtedly one of the leaders of that pack. From Burnside to terrain never skated before, he charges. Here’s a look through the scope at what’s coming in the future.

Hi, Kevin, it’s Mark.
Hey, Mark, what’s up? Not much.

You’re the interview, man. [Laughs]
Yeah. Let’s do this.

Dude, I never wrote down any questions at all. I got busy and had a couple beers.
[Laughs] No questions, all right.

What’s your name?
My name is Kevin Kowalski.

What do you do?
I skateboard.

Nice.
Yeah.

Where do you live?
I live in Seal Rock, Oregon on the central Oregon coast.

Have you been traveling and skateboarding a lot lately?
Yes. I’ve been to Italy recently and I was in California for a while. Also I went to New Zealand and Australia. I’ve been traveling a lot, recently actually.

What was your favorite spot when you were traveling around?
I would have to say New Zealand and Australia were my favorite place to go.

Why?
Well, the people out there are all really nice and cool. Because of the old skate history, and all the old concrete skateparks, and a lot of good bowls and other stuff like that, it’s a really fun place to go. I recommend going there.

“SEEING YOUR FRIENDS THERE AND GETTING TO SKATE SOMETHING COOL IS FUN. ON THE OTHER HAND, WINNING MONEY IS GOOD BECAUSE THEN I GET TO BUILD MORE AT MY HOUSE.”

I would like to. I’ve never been there. I’m going someday. Isn’t the plane ride hell though? It’s like a nine hour plane ride or something?
Yeah, the plane ride is a little ridiculous. It takes quite some time, but it’s worth it if you don’t mind sitting down for a long period of time on an airplane.

Did you meet any weird characters over there?
I met a few people out there. I can’t really remember anyone in particular, but I met a lot of people out there.

So you have a bowl in your yard at your parents’ house. It’s pretty bad ass and I helped to build it and whatnot, but when are we doing our next tour there? What’s up? What are we doing on this project?
I don’t know. What’s up next would probably be the coping. Tavita’s been out here helping put it together and, hopefully, next we can get all the pool coping down and grind it, maybe work our way up the snake run or something else afterwards. I’m down to get to work on it as soon as we can.
