In this follow up to 2000’s underground video Static, filmmaker and Skatepark of Tampa Team Rider, Josh Stewart, brings you another completely independent and unique skateboard video experience. When you pop Static II into your DVD player, don’t expect to see circus acts, school yards, blue skies, or tricks requiring parachutes before takeoff. Expect skating that connects to the reasons you stepped onto a board in the first place. Expect a video you’ll want to watch every day before you go out skating. Except inspiration. For what you’ll witness in Static II is skating that is easy on the eyes – street skating in real actual streets.

5BORO SKATEBOARDS COLLABORATES WITH THE BEASTIE BOYS ON LIMITED-EDITION BOARD GRAPHIC – NYC’s 5boro Skateboards is proud to announce a special art-inspired collaboration with the Beastie Boys in celebration of their critically acclaimed new release, To The 5 Boroughs. ‘When Cornerstone Promotion approached us on behalf of Capitol Records to discuss teaming up with the Beastie Boys to produce an exclusive co-branded board graphic, we were really psyched to make it happen,’ says 5boro Skateboards Founder and Owner Steve Rodriguez. ‘The 5boro crew and I grew up skating to the Beastie Boys’ music, and we’re honored to work with them and be a part of their history.’ To bring the limited-edition board graphic to life, 5boro’s Creative Director Mark Nardelli worked closely with representatives from Cornerstone, Capitol and noted Italian artist Matteo Pericoli whose work entitled, ‘Manhattan Unfurled,’ graces the album cover of To The 5 Boroughs. Through a joint effort, Nardelli transformed Pericoli’s illustration into a board graphic for this special project, and the result is top-shelf. Only 100 5boro / Beastie Boys decks exist, and each deck is signed by the Beasties and numbered. They will definitely be highly sought after, and very difficult to acquire. Keep an eye out for special deck giveaways at Beastie Boys shows and online at beastieboys.com and 5boro.com. For more information, please contact steve@5boro.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FROM JELLO BIAFRA – I and Alternative Tentacles have thrown up our hands at getting any justice from the three ex-Dead Kennedys’ greed-motivated lawsuits, and the shocking denial of our appeal. The court refused to hear any evidence of the many shady things they have done since the trial. But that does not mean that the verdict and court rulings are the real truth any more than George Dubya was democratically elected president. They just got away with a lot of lies. O.J. Simpson would be proud. What they have done to Dead Kennedys since their hostile takeover speaks for itself. Their money uber alles mentality has more in common with Dick Cheney than the vision and principles our band stood for. I’m as proud of Dead Kennedys as I ever was. It seems obvious I love and respect what we accomplished far more than they ever will. If they force me to blow the whistle again, I will. We’ll continue to oppose the dumbing down and pimping of the DK catalogue, phony ‘reunion’ shows (often with my likeness in the ads), selling my image into video games, their refusal to show me all the books, blah, blah, etc., etc. Ending our defense against their main legal attack does not mean I endorse or recommend any Dead Kennedys releases on Decay Music, Manifesto, Plastic Head, Cleopatra, MVD, etc. I can’t. I’m too ashamed. – Jello Biafra – For more information, please visit www.alternativetentacles.com

PRESS RELEASE – BALLARD BOWL UPDATE – The Ballard Bowl is NOT saved and we need to be heard! 7/20 @ Nordic Heritage Museum Ballardia – There has been a sour turn of events in the Ballard Bowl saga. Through a series of outright lies and diversionary tactics, the Seattle Parks Department is moving forward with plans to demolish the Ballard Bowl, ignoring the massive public outcry in support of saving this cherished landmark in our community. Instead, they want to spend your tax dollars to build a smaller ‘skate facility’ a mere 50 feet from the existing location! This decision is likely going to be made official at the Nordic Heritage Museum on July 20th @ 7pm. We want an army of Ballard Bowl supporters and skaters to bear witness to this decision. We think the Parks Department should be forced to face the people that will be most affected by this monumentally ill-conceived judgment, that will most certainly send destructive shockwaves through the community that will be felt for decades. We need silent support, signs and you to wear your clean (or dirty) save the Ballard Bowl shirts. It is a public meeting, I don’t know if others will get a chance to speak. The bottom line is that the fate is in the hands of 10 people, 8 of which don’t skate and 5 of which were thorns in our side during the whole original crusade. The ‘silent majority’ of Beth Miller and Cathy Tuttles’ private interests are making our fight seem meaningless and by their lies and mis-information are wasting possibly over $300,000 in order to demolish the bowl and make a new one mere feet away. Let’s show them that we don’t approve of this waste of taxpayer money in order to appease the private developers next door. It’s time to start throwing stones back at Goliath. We need to show them that regardless of their efforts to destroy this product of great community unity and pride, the skateboarders, parents, and bowl supporters region-wide will not stand idly by while they lay waste to the lifeblood of our existence: The Ballard Bowl. Please make signs, they lied to us and made us not believe in the democratic system. We are not pleased. Another protest is being planned for Aug 21, 2004 at the bowl. Go to www.sleestak.net/for more. -Jason Harrison – Founder, Puget Sound Skatepark Association
