Hurley H20 and Waves for Water 100k World Water Day

World Water Day is set for March 22, 2014…

Press Release:

Today Hurley H2O announced their plans to aid Waves For Water with the largest single-day water relief effort in history. Fundraising for 100K  launched January 1, 2014, leading into World Water Day, March 22, 2014.

Hurley H2O will support Waves For Water in their coordination of a multi-nation water-relief effort, aimed at bringing clean water to 100,000 people in just one day. Hurley teamriders and athletes will join five groups of “Clean Water Couriers” to five different parts of the globe  – Brazil, Haiti, Indonesia, Liberia and Nicaragua – and distribute water filtration units. The goal is to distribute 1,000 water filters on March 22, 2014, with the capacity to provide clean-water access for 100,000 people.

“Our goal with this initiative is to create a measurable, large-scale action, on a day when the entire world has its eyes and focus on water. We hope that our pledge to provide access to clean water for 100,000 people on this one day will help trigger the masses into taking similar action throughout the following years,” said Waves For Water Founder Jon Rose. “World Water Day is already happening, all we’re doing is coordinating efforts to raise the stakes and maximize the impact.”

World Water Day began in 1993 as a means of bringing attention to the importance of fresh, clean water, as well as serving as an advocacy platform for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Twenty years later, Waves For Water and Hurley H2O plan to bring even more global attention to World Water Day.

“100K World Water Day is a great example of how Jon and team continually raise the bar; we are honored to be part of the initiative and excited about its potential,” said Hurley VP Global Outreach Ben Edwards. “Not only is it going to be fun, but it’s going to create real impact.”
