MUSICIAN NAME: Zach Dear

WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
Iowa City, IA

WHAT ARE YOUR PARENTS LIKE?
My dad is the fucking man. Realest dude I know.

DID YOUR PARENTS SUPPORT YOUR CHOICE TO BE A MUSICIAN?
Totally. Once I had saved up enough money, my dad was the one that took me to pick out my first guitar. He’s been incredibly accepting and supportive of my choices and lifestyle, even if it isn’t exactly for him

DESCRIBE YOUR NERVES DURING THIS ALBUM?
I tried to stay as collected as possible. First LP is a pretty big thing but I think it went extremely well.

WHAT DOES DOWN UNDER MEAN?
Aussi shit right? Or sex stuff? Or Aussi’s banging?

FAVORITE BAND YOU’VE OPENED FOR?
Cro-Mags and Ringworm in Cleveland. One of the most insane shows I’ve ever been a part of.

ULTIMATE BAND TO OPEN FOR?
Red Hot Chili Peppers

BEST BAND TO OPEN FOR YOU?
Recently it was Sabotage from Canada. Great band.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE GIG?
We played a packed out basement in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Not even room for kids to pit. It was out of control. Only room for crowd surfing.

WHICH OF THE 7 DWARVES ARE YOU?
Grumpy. No question. Or sleepy. Or Blitzen.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BE IN A BAND?
And Out Come The Wolves made me want to start a band. Judge made me want to start a hardcore band.

New Album, Pendulum Swings, In Stores TODAY

Midwest Hardcore’s finest, Expire, are gearing up to tour with Cold World starting next week, and are wasting no time with booking more shows for themselves afterwards!  The band announced today that they’ll be appearing in New York and Canada in mid-June with Naysayer, just after their full-US run throughout May and June.  Check out Expire’s rigorous touring schedule below.

Expire will unleash their debut Bridge Nine LP Pendulum Swings on May 22nd – this album is full of simple and stripped down, yet super fun and heavy hardcore mixed with Suicidal Tendencies-style thrash.  Recorded at Howl Street in Milwaukee, WI and mastered by Jay Maas of Getaway Recordings (Defeater, Bane, Cruel Hand) this record is sure to be one of the heaviest exports from the Midwest this year.  Bridge Nine recently posted pre-orders for Expire’s new 7inch, “Sink With Me” at B9Store.com. This 7inch is a pre-cursor to Pendulum Swings, and features the tracks “Abyss” and “The Pain Strikes” (Sick of It All cover exclusive to the 7inch release). Check out the track “Abyss” streaming at Bridge9.com/Expire.
