SURFSTYLE UPDATE : DEC 03 – http://www.surfstyle.org – We are starting production for the NYC exhibit and will be meeting with museums and galleries in January. While we are making the rounds, if anyone has suggestions, or hears of new art locales opening up, send us the details and we will meet up while back East. The exhibit is planned for early summer 04 before we ship off to the U.K. WORD – News, Latest Happenings, Etc. _Glass Love – Andrew Kidman’s coming flick is sure to be another masterpiece. Kidman is all soul and I have to say that fella is every single bit of what’s good about our collective love for the glide. If you get the chance, pick up the latest Surfers Journal for some interesting insight on his coming film. _Riding Waves. The sproutly glidester Cyrus Sutton has entered the surf movie arena with a nice burst. His Riding Waves flick has some classic footage of Swami John Peck busting full-on limb-pretzel-meditation moves along with him charging some heavy waves at his favorite SD break. Nice job on laying down the organic punjabi beats courtesy of DJ Cheb I Sabbah (Six Degree Records) – the whole soundtrack is right on. There’s also some super stoney editing of Mr. Donavon that will bring you back to the days of PeeWee’s Playhouse; some family footage of the Machado’s (Producer); and of course JT, among others. We’re including it as part of our film exhibit tour and will be showing it in SF within the next few weeks. Herbie Fletcher – Herbie doesn’t use email, so don’t email him- call him. Okay, Herb rocked SoHo last month for a hot art show that brought out faces from the…(umm)…the bohomeian / society / art world in NYC i.e. the people that make shit happen in the Apple. The ‘large girl w/ no eyes’ board collaboration he’s doing with Julian Schnabel are in our humble opinion, very cool. We love Herb for never slowing down. Patrick Trefz Exhibit Mr. Trefz has his one man foto exhibition in Santa Cruz as well as a new book featuring fotoz in/around the other SC. H’e’s got skillz so check it out ptrefzphoto.com Joe Curren speaking of skillz, Joe C has a nice new website to peep out joecurrenphotography.com – in time for holiday gifts. _Ty Trippoli’s fascinating rail-bone barrel-form created quite a buzz at Surf Style. Now Ty’s bailed SF for the Brooklyn, NYC muse and w/o a moment to spare is in the Gallery at 49th exhibit www.gallery49.com The NYC peeps on the list should check it b/c TyRomer charges – on board and studio. Surf Style Books looking bitchin. We are on target to hit our release date of early summer 04. If you’re a retailer or distributor interested in carrying the book, please get in touch. Bill Ogden Documentary We just reviewed partial footage for the coming Bill Ogden documentary and it’s 100% Bill Ogden. Maui’s Randy Mills is behind this one and we will update you as it progresses. Jbrother is making the leap from surf fotag/film director to doing advert and product photography shoots for Madison Avenue agencies in NYC. Congrats to Jbrrr for breaking out! PBS picked up the Surf Style TV documentary for the pop culture show SPARK and will be airing it across the country. Will keep you updated on that. If you didn’t get a chance to buy art at Surf Style and want to pass along a worthy non-consumer holiday present, please email us and we will connect you with the art-ists. WWW.SURFSTYLE.ORG

THE ALLIANCE AND FUEL TEAM UP ON-AIR – Spots for New Action Sports Network Feature Pro Skateboarders Danny Way, Bob Burnquist, Tony Alva, Duane Peters, Steve Olson, Lance Mountain, Steve Alba and Dave Reul – LOS ANGELES, November 19, 2003 – The Alliance Film Group, an innovative production collective specializing in action sports, has teamed up with FUEL, Fox’s new action sports television network, on a series of promotional spots for the network in addition to GKA, the new girls action sports series hosted by pro snowboarder Tina Basich that premieres on Sunday, December 14 at 10:07pm ET/PT. ‘It’s great working with a super creative crew like the group at Fuel, who support pushing the boundaries of action sport filming, said Chris Zamoscianyk, partner of The Alliance. ‘Plus the caliber of athletes really made for some insane footage.’ ‘Companies like FUEL and DC Shoes have to be on point with their advertising. Chris has the talent and knowledge of action sports that made him perfect for this project. And that is demonstrated by the positive response we’ve had to this creative,’ explains Jake Munsey, Creative Director for FUEL. For the first spot, FUEL and The Alliance coordinated with DC Shoes to shoot exclusive footage of Danny Way on the same ramp he used to set world record marks for highest air and longest air. This spot featuring Danny on the DC Shoes Mega ramp at Point X Camp in Aguanga, California, began airing on FUEL on Sunday, October 12 to the tunes of Slayer. Bob Burnquist welcomed the team into his backyard to shoot both on ‘The Loop’ and his personal vert ramp. The Burnquist spot featuring ‘The Loop’ will begin airing on Sunday, November 23 during the premiere of a new ‘Skate Maps’ episode. Old school skaters Tony Alva, Duane Peters, Steve Olson, Lance Mountain, Steve Alba and Dave Reul came together for a one-of-a-kind pool shoot set in the suburbs. In the spot, the skate legends interrupt the fun of four kids – Joe Graham, Chris Graham, David Robarge and Jesse Alba (Steve’s son) – who thought they’d finally found a perfect secret location. ‘The opportunity was too great to pass up,’ said DC President Ken Block. ‘When Fuel approached us and we knew DC would be one of the first skate companies to have a spot broadcast across all of Fox’s channels, we were psyched. Danny’s skating is unlike anything else out there right now, and it is great to see it showcased in a commercial spot like this.’ The multi-camera shoots for the Way and Burnquist spots utilized cutting edge filming technologies, including a Photosonics high speed 35mm film camera, an 80′ boom lift and an array of other cameras and equipment from Otto Nemenz International. To capture Way in action on the DC Shoes Mega ramp, a special low-level helicopter camera was also used. The pool skating shoot incorporated state-of-the-art 24p digital technology with the new Panasonic AG-DVX100 camera. The footage from all three shoots is being edited into separate national cross-channel promotion spots and network IDs for FUEL. ‘Beautiful Day’ an inspired tune by Spider Harrison, one of the recently unearthed ’70s funk bands, overlays the Bob Burnquist spot and Duane Peters’ band, US Bombs add the final touch to the pool shoot with their song ‘All The Bodies.’ The Way and Burnquist spots were directed and shot by Chris Zamoscianyk with executive producer Scott Mellini – both partners in the Alliance Film Group. FUEL’s creative director Jake Munsey, directed the Bowl shoot with Zamoscianyk as the DP. All spots were produced and edited in-house under Munsey’s supervision. Telecine was handled by top commercial post-production agencies Company 3 and R!OT, both based in Santa Monica. Entertainment business veterans Zamoscianyk, Scott Mellini and J. Tosh Lu, themselves active participants in action sports culture, created The Alliance Film Group to produce and develop films, videos and episodic production with a unique, irreverent style but without the Hollywood hype. The Alliance inspires creativity through an experimental, fun and interactive environment, while leveraging cutting edge production techniques. With vast experience in all facets of filmmaking including concept, production, post, marketing and distribution, The Alliance has the sensibility and experience to uniquely bridge the action sport and entertainment world. FUEL is the first 24/7 US cable network dedicated to the world of action sports. As a driving force in youth culture, action sports have captured the imagination, energy and excitement of a generation. FUEL covers both competitive and non-competitive action in the arenas of skateboarding, surfing, BMX, freestyle motocross, snowboarding and wakeboarding. Programming includes top-level international sports events and competitions, featuring elite extreme sports athletes. Original and co-produced series are complemented by unique and compelling interstitials, featuring the best slams, the top tricks, and the voices of the action sports industry. Launched on July 1, 2003, FUEL is available in 5 million homes.

TEAM PAIN NEWS – Oviedo FL. – By Josh Rabinowitz for SkateboardDirectory.com – Oviedo, Florida * — After using city funds to build a 30,000 square-foot skateboard park, the Parks and Recreation department of Oviedo, Florida, is now charging up to $12/day for admission. Local residents and skateboarders in Oviedo complain that the vast majority of publicly owned skateparks * in the United States * are free, and Oviedo’s should be too. So, they are banding together to show support to make the Oviedo skatepark free on Monday, December 1st at 7PM at the Oviedo City Hall. A poster for the event states: ‘Free the Oviedo Skatepark. Community Skate Park? So why are you charging big $$? Is that fair to the the little kid that cannot afford to skate? NO! Come show your support, Monday December 1st at 7pm at the Oviedo City Hall.’ The skatepark in question is no little snakerun on the edge of a ballfield. This is a well-designed and constructed masterwork by respected longtime skatepark builder Tim Payne’s company Team Pain. According to the Tallahassee parks and recreation website, Tim Payne has received a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for his ‘pioneering spirit and innovative ideas’ in designing and building over 100 skate parks worldwide, including those used for the ESPN * X-Games * each year. Tim’s references include Tony Hawk * and Miki Vuckovich *. Trice Guisinger, of the Oviedo Parks and Recreation Department, said that the park cost approximately $700,000-800,000 to build, including land purchase, landscaping, and construction. About $200,000 of the cost of the park went to Team Pain for the construction of the actual skateboarding structures. The all-concrete park is about half street course and half pools. ‘Basically,’ explained Tim, ‘the cities make skateboarding illegal, and then they build these parks, and they should be free. … Our whole business (philosophy) is that when we build a city park, it should be free.’ Trice Guisinger of the Oviedo Parks and Recreation department said that she understood that the skatepark fees were put in place to fund the maintanance of the skatepark, and to monitor the park to help avoid lawsuits. But Tim feels those aren’t good reasons. Budgets for park maintanance, he explained, ‘are already in place.’ In addition, ‘the state of Florida put skateboarding on the list of hazardous activities, so there’s no way you can sue the state’ for using an unmonitored skatepark. And Tim says that based on his research, monitoring of a park actually puts the city at increased liability, as the monitor can be held responsible if, for example, they fail to keep someone wearing their helmet. Some think that the park’s maintanance could be payed for with a concession on the premise instead of through fees to skaters. ‘They would make so much more money on concessions if the park was free’, said local skater Tito Porrata. Tito also expressed that the entrance fee kept the park from being skated much. Most skaters, he explained, opt to travel to free skateparks instead. According to Tito, other Florida cities with skateparks include Tampa *, Deltona, Sarasota, St. Augustine, Navaree City, Collier Count-Naples, Tallahassee, North Port, Tavares, Lakeland, lakeland, Gulfport, Marathon, Boca Raton, Defuniak Springs, Denudin, and Venice. And other communities have come up with other solutions to cover the ongoing costs of a skatepark. According to David Hormuth, who helped organize the operation of the Tallahassee skatepark, most cities in Florida with longstanding Parks and Recreation departments have ‘Friends of the Park’ funds set up, where funds and property can be donated to the park and earmarked for particular purposes. In Tallahassee, he explained, the operation of the park is funded by donations raised at events put on by the local skateshop. The proceeds are then placed in the Friends of the Park fund specifically for the operation of the skatepark. David also explained that wasn’t much monitoring needed: ‘Skaters are a no-hassle kind of people’. And there’s also an argument that the park should just be open and unmonitored. ‘There’s over 1,000 other public city skateparks, and a lot of them don’t even have fences,’ explained Tim. The poster for Monday’s ‘Free Oviedo’ event also states that ‘97% of the skateparks in the US are free, unfenced and unsupervised’. But the most important thing to realize, Tito told me, is that for some, having a park fee or not means the difference between being able to go to the park or not. Many local kids, he explains, have trouble finding money to pay the skatepark’s daily fee. Plus, let’s not forget what we’re talking about here: a city park. Points out Tim: ‘It’s supposed to be a community thing.’ Notes in support of a free Oviedo skatepark can be sent to freeskateparks@hotmail.com

ETNIES SKATEPARK FREE! – etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest To Be Free! Lake Forest, CA. (21 November, 2003) – etnies and the City of Lake Forest have strengthened their partnership even more by creating a deal that will make the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest a completely free facility. Hearing news that the three million dollar, three acre public skatepark was planning to charge a membership fee to maintain its use, etnies owner, President, CEO and former professional skateboarder Pierre Andre Senizergues met with the City of Lake Forest Tuesday to discuss how to make the park free and open to everyone without any fees. ‘People will go broke if they have to pay all the time,’ said Pierre, laughing. ‘Our park is way too good!’ Remembering that he had to pay a fee to skate a local park near his hometown of Antony, France, Pierre recalled how he and his friends often had trouble finding the funds to skate as much as they wanted to. That same humbling feeling has stayed with Pierre throughout his life, and was a driving factor in calling a meeting with the City about the annual and daily fees for the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest. During the meeting, Lake Forest City Manager Bob Dunek and Assistant City Manager Mark Pulone described their own passion to give the community a free all access public skatepark. ‘ We would love to make this park completely free,’ insisted Bob. ‘Let’s see if we can work something out to make this skatepark something very special for our community.’ Working together as they always have, etnies and the City of Lake Forest figured out a plan that will ensure the park is a free facility. Thanks to a large financial investment on etnies behalf, which will pay staff and maintenance fees, the City guarantees that the skatepark will be free for at least the first year of operation. Each additional year will be financed through special etnies contests and events, generating enough revenue to help the park become a self-sufficient operation. ‘This is huge,’ said Mark Pulone at the end of the meeting. ‘We’ve accomplished something really great today!’ The deal will be presented to the City Council on December 2, and once approved go into effect immediately, thanks to etnies and the passionate representatives of the City of Lake Forest! The etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest will host a huge Grand Opening Ceremony on Saturday, December 13. After this deal is approved, skateboarders around the world will have much more to celebrate than just an amazing etnies skatepark. They’ll have few bucks in their pocket to grab something to eat when they are done skating. etnies, giving back to skateboarding since 1986. www.etnies.com

U.S. SKATEBOARDING CHAMPIONSHIPS – Brazilian Daniel Vieira Wins the Street Competition at the $200,000 U.S. Skateboarding Championships – Old School Meets New School as Two Generations of Skateboarding Compete in the Finals – (Los Angeles, Calif., November 22, 2003) – Eager fans looked on as Daniel Vieira (Brazil), ranked second in the world, took home $30,000 at the first-annual LG Action Sports Championships. Vieira had a clean first run landing everything, but he still managed to top his first score with his second run of 91.00 points. Leading by 5 points in the second round, Vieira put down a 360 flip up the step-up and a backside flip over the hip. At the buzzer he stuck a big noseslide down the ledge getting a huge applause from the fans and judges. His Brazilian compatriots, including vert skater Sandro Dias, were vocal throughout Vieira’s runs and rushed onto the course to congratulate him. Vieira was relieved to end his season on such a high note. ‘In the preliminaries I was nervous,’ said Vieira. ‘But after my first run when I landed all of my tricks I relaxed. This event was a great way to end the season.’ In second, 30-year-old Chris Senn (Grass Valley, CA), the 2003 X Games Street Bronze Medallist, had two clean runs with the smooth style, creativity and high-speed flow he is known for. In third place after the first round, Senn bumped himself up to second place with a score of 87.33. Starting up on the 20-plus-foot back wall, Senn dropped into the course from the steep transition ramp with a huge amount of speed. He did a backside alley oop over the hip, a big wallride backside grab over the channel, a crooked grind on the rail and a kickflip up the step-up. But Senn was just happy to be skating tonight. ‘I didn’t even think I’d qualify,’ said Senn. As for his expectations, Senn leaves a lot of his skating to luck: ‘I try not to have expectations because you try your best out there and you either do it or you don’t. It might have something to do with the stars lining up.’ Ryan Sheckler (San Clemente, CA) took third, ending an amazing season that earned him the 2003 X Games Gold Medal and a first-place world ranking. A tie-breaker determined who would take home the $12,000 prize because Sheckler’s score of 83.76 tied Paul Machnau (Canada). Machnau was the number-one qualifier and ended his second run with an impressive frontside lipslide on the rail. The judges broke the tie using Sheckler’s first score of 83.76, which beat Machnau’s by 4 points. From the top of the back wall, Sheckler skated straight down the near-vert wall gaining a ton of speed for a perfect frontside flip up the step up on the far side of the course. He also flowed into a frontside half-cab over the hip, kickflip 50/50 on the picnic table, and a backside 50/50 down the ledge, which he could not stick. Although he faded at the end of both runs and fell, the 13-year old phenom was still pleased with his performance tonight: ‘I did the best I could even though I got tired. It was such a big course.’ Tomorrow the vert skaters take the stage as they vie for their share of the $100,000 up for grabs in the vert portion of the U.S. Skateboarding Championships. Bucky Lasek, Bob Burnquist, Sandro Dias and more practiced on the huge 60-foot vert ramp today, perfecting their lines for tomorrow’s main event. Skateboarding Street Top Ten Final Results – 1. LG ACTION SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIPS – Bucky Lasek Wins Final Event of the LG Action Sports Championships (Los Angeles, Calif., November 23, 2003) – Democracy prevailed at the LG Action Sports Championship during the U.S. Skateboarding Championships. Honoring the spirit of the sport and the preference of the skaters, event organizers converted the competition format for prelims from 4-man, 7-minute jam sessions to two 12-man, 30-minute contest sessions, encouraging skaters to raise the bar with progressive moves and creativity. In the end, it was Bucky Lasek (Baltimore, MD) who took home the $30,000 first-place prize and the title of U.S. Champion. Lasek, the 2003 X Games Vert Gold Medallist, linked a nollie kickflip slob over the channel, a frontside cab kickflip, a nollie flip 360 mute grab and a frontside heelflip gay twist in his run to take the win. ‘I had fun out there. The jam session does not limit us to a 45-second run where we are so pressured to have a clean run. It reminded me of skating on backyard ramps as a kid with my friends,’ said Lasek. In second, Sandro Dias (Brazil), the number-one ranked vert skater in the world, would not give up on landing the 900, which he tried four times during the final session. The ramp cleared and the fans were silent as Dias came close to sticking it the last time. Dias has never landed the 900 in competition or even practice, but the U.S. Championships seemed like the best place to try it. ‘Normally I wouldn’t have tried it in competition, but the format allowed me to push myself and take the risk,’ said Dias. With major amplitude, Dias also did a huge McTwist, alley oop melon 540, alley oop heelflip indie, alley oop 540 over the channel and his signature gnar-jar. ‘There was such a high level of skating tonight,’ Dias added. Bob Burnquist (Brazil), the 2003 Vans Triple Crown Vert Champion, took third impressing the fans and judges with what seemed like endless back-to-back switch maneuvers. He also pulled a big backside 540, kickflip indie and a one-footed backside grind and a samba flip, a move that Burnquist himself invented. ‘The fans came out to see us skate our best and the jam session allowed us to have a good time and push our skating,’ said Burnquist. The contest also brought the best out in Neal Hendrix (Redondo Beach, CA) who took fourth. Hendrix made his presence known on the ramp by tirelessly and repeatedly dropping in, earning himself the nickname the ‘Energizer Bunny’. His 360 indie to fakie and ollie heelflip frontside air over the channel were just some of the tricks Hendrix powered through. Skateboarding Vert Final Results – 1. Bucky Lasek – Baltimore, MD, 2. Sandro Dias – Santo Andre, Brazil, 3. Bob Burnquist – Rio de Janiero, Brazil, 4. Neal Hendrix – Redondo Beach, CA, 5. Tas Pappas – Melbourne, Australia, 6. Mike Crum – Long Beach, TX, 7. The new Hollywood arrangement is going to be a unique one, because rather than having one captain, the entire Hollywood team is going to steer its own new course together. One big upcoming project the team is working on is the video; no name or date yet, but plans are in the works. We’re all excited to see what great things the Hollywood team can bring us next! Hollywood welcomes DJ on as their newest AM, but there’s no time for celebration since DJ is off to Hawaii, to do some demos and some all around good promo. Phil Ladjanski is clocking footy back home in Philly and he’s also gained some new sponsors: Indy, FKD bearings and Nike Flow. James Atkin has been going on trip after trip. He just got back from Spain and is already cracking down on a couple of different projects. Check out www.hollywoodskateboards.com right now for a peek into their new direction and a full team list.

TOY MACHINE – Austin Stephens recently went on an Emerica road / demo trip to the East Coast, where he and the sick ass Emerica team showed a full frontal force. He’s currently nursing a rolled ankle and can’t wait to continue filming for the upcoming TM ‘Good and Evil’ video. Billy Marks killed the Active Bling demo, doing kickflip lipslides with no problem. Diego Bucchieri just got back from Spain where he and filmer Kevin Barnett were filming in Barcelona, getting some untapped good spots for the new Toy Machine video ‘Good and Evil.’ Ed Templeton is getting hurt, and working on his art show ‘The Prevailing Nothing’. Ed is very busy right now, that shit opened in LA last weekend! It’s officially official: JLAY is now a full-blown AM on Toy Machine. Watch out for Johnny ‘JLay’ Layton, this kid is blowing up.

The F crew is finishing their new tour video featuring footy from the epic European tour as well as all the other mini trips from this year. THE DC VIDEO DELUXE EDITION DVD SET TO RELEASE JANUARY 31, 2004 – Vista, CA . . . Wondering what the DC team has been up to since The DC Video wrapped in June? The answer is simple: skating. In the case of Danny Way, skating and filming an entire new part on the Mega Ramp. The results will be seen in The DC Video Deluxe Edition DVD, set to hit shops January 31, 2004. The Deluxe Edition DVD incorporates new and unreleased skate footage of the DC skate team, and also includes many other bonus features. A first in skateboarding, the packaging for The DC Video Deluxe Edition DVD is a full-color, hardbound book that contains 86 pages of unreleased photos, tour notes, memorabilia, and exclusive team interviews. The book/DVD packaging is the same size as a regular DVD case, so The DC Video Deluxe Edition DVD will fit on shelves with other DVDs. ‘There was so much good skating and so many good ideas that came out of The DC Video that we felt people should see,’ said DC President Ken Block. ‘The DVD format really lends itself to bonus features and a collectible book. We now have a place to tell many stories that came out of The DC Video, like how Dyrdek’s part came together, what went into building the Mega Ramp, and what Danny went through in breaking his own world records on the Ramp less than a week before our LA premiere.’ Included in Danny Way’s new Mega Ramp part is a generous amount of groundbreaking footage filmed on the Mega Box, highlighted in the Decade print ad. The ad, currently running in skateboarding magazines, is the subject of much speculation and buzz on what Danny is going to pull off in the new DVD. There is also new footage of other DC team members, worldwide video tour footage and segments originally intended for The DC Video, but didn’t make the final cut. ‘After the premiere and the tour, Danny kept skating and filming out at the Mega Ramp,’ Block said. ‘It quickly became obvious that he was once again doing some incredible stuff, and in some new directions. We’ve pushed the release date back twice because Danny was still skating and getting even more footage. We wanted to let him have more time…and it has been well worth it. I think people are going to be shocked.’ As well as a host of other special additional features, viewers will be treated to a brand-new part that follows the further adventures of Rob Dyrdek and Big Black. DC is premiering the DC Video Deluxe Edition DVD at ASR in San Diego on January 17th, 2004. For more information, visit www.dcshoes.com/dcfilms

ASR PRESS – ASR January 17-19th ‘Back to Business, Back to San Diego’ will bring a fresh crew of emerging labels and, of course the finest established brands around. Over the past 2 decades, ASR has become the preeminent show to unveil new labels and styles in the action sports and youth lifestyle market. This year get a first peek of what’s to come from the year’s most highly anticipated brands like Mada, Modern Amusement and Z-Brand and the new lines from Hurley and Alpinestars only at ASR at ASR January 17-19, 2004 at the San Diego Convention Center. ‘The youth culture audience craves innovation and is always looking for ‘what’s next.” ASR has always been the place to catch the very latest, be it a brand or trend,’ says Kevin Flanagan, ASR Show Director. ‘Retailers use the show not only to buy for the season from their current brands, but also use this valuable time to pick up new labels and gauge lines for the next year.’ Talk is already buzzing around Mada, the new label coming from Ezekiel founders and the head designer described as having an ‘edgy fashion vibe’. ‘We see that the marketplace needs new brands. Mada has the feel and look of a new company, but with the experience and maturity of an established brand,’ says Vince De La Pena, co-founder of Mada. ‘We picked ASR as Mada’s first showing, because southern California is the heart of the action sports industry and we are based here, so it is just natural.’ While Modern Amusement could previously be found mostly in Japan and Europe, the US market is demanding more of the line. ‘We are attending ASR for the first time in years as part of our effort to reach and expand into the US market,’ says Kurt Schroeder, Director of Marketing at Modern Amusement. After years of attending the show as a buyer, Bryan Johnson, Brand and Product Director for a denim driven apparel brand labeled Z-Brand, will be returning as an exhibitor. ‘ASR is a good show and a great opportunity to ground ourselves with specialty stores you can only find here,’ he says of Z-Brand’s decision to introduce themselves to the action sports market at ASR. Established brands like Alpinestars continue to use ASR to launch new lines and expand popular lines like women’s and juniors. ‘Alpinestars looks for quality specialty retailers, ASR has them and a nice mix of buyers that match our level, clean and paced growth mentality,’ says Bill Gage, National Sales Manager for Alpinestars, who is expanding farther into soft goods through a women’s line with motor sports influence. Swim continues to grow at ASR with Hurley entering the market for the first time and Girl Star returning to the show with Brazilian cut suits. Check in with Hurley’s new line of bikinis and tanks at ASR in the Hurley booth and Girl Star right next to Aaron Chang. 2004 Dates – ASR January 17-19 – San Diego, CA, ASR FALL March 9-10 Huntington Beach, CA, ASR Europe July 11-13 Anglet, France, For more info go to www.asrbiz.com
