Convergence, an exhibit of surfboard and photography artwork that Rob Machado and Sage Vaughn created in collaboration, will be on display one night only, January 29, 2015 at Flood Magazine Gallery. The opening will take place from 7-10 PM at the gallery, which is located at 5810 West Third Street, Los Angeles, CA 90036.
The exhibit features 10 limited edition surfboards and eight large scale photographs. A pre-sale for the artwork will kick off during the week of January 15 at Rob Machado Foundation. Proceeds will benefit RMF clean water filling stations project, which encourages youth at California elementary and high schools to use reusable water bottles in hopes of eradicating sales of single-use plastic bottles.
“I met Sage through a mutual friend while surfing and his passion for riding waves and creativity is contagious,” says legendary surfer, environmental activist and musician Rob Machado. “Collaborating with my surfboards designs and photos as his canvas has been so inspiring. I’m honored that he wants to support my foundation’s efforts by dedicating his time and incredible talent. We’re excited to share the outcome with everyone.”

About Sage Vaughn
Sage Vaughn is a Los Angeles based painter and illustrator who is best known for his wildlife series depicting colorful butterflies, owls and sparrows in otherwise melancholic city scenes. Born in Oregon in 1976 to naturist parents, one of Vaughn’s earliest memories is of sketching animals at the local zoo alongside his father. As a teen, he started out as a graffiti artist in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley, where he was raised – but it was a scene he quickly outgrew. More interested in the interface between “man’s wild side and animals’ civilized aspects,” his work encompasses a sense of humanity and community against the odds. Vaughn has had widely acclaimed solo shows in New York, Geneva, London and Los Angeles.
