COASTAL CARNAGE 2009

COASTAL CARNAGE 2009
NEWPORT BEACH, CA
July 26, 2009
Words and Photos by Dan Levy

While big waves hitting the beach in Newport were the real star of the show, the sidewalk surfers were putting on a show of their own. This year, the U.S. Open along with Nike, Hurley and Converse decided to scale down the vert of the Soul Bowl and replace it with a mini bowl with a spine and a cradle. Some of the new blood talent like Ben Raybourn, Grant Taylor, Pedro Barros, Curren Caples and Nolan Johnson, mixed it up with veterans like Christian Hosoi, Neal Mims, Wade Speyer, Mike Peterson, Chad Bartie, Daniel Cardone and more. It was good to see some of the more well known street riders get in there and show the all around skills they have on the round walls.
