BOSS HOG
INTERVIEW WITH HOLLIS QUEENS
INTERVIEW BY BRIAN LENTINI

“Since everyone knows I’m hot, they let me sing.”

Whats up with the name “Hollis Queens”?
Hollis is my first name. Since I’m in RUN DMC’s “Christmas in Hollis” video (I’m the girl who RUN buys the turkey from), Cristina decided to call me Hollis Queens.

Usually being a drummer sucks, you get stuck in the back with no crowd interaction, you sweat in anonymity—but you sing sometimes, how’s that?
Since everybody knows I’m hot, they let me sing.

What were you doing before Boss Hog?
I was a hang out artist.

I read in an interview that Jon and Cristina both lost their virginity to the same person, Henry Rollins of Black Flag and Rollins band fame. Do you know the story behind this one?
Actually Henry lost his virginity to my strap on Petty. As it turns out he is a sloppy pass around the party.

What do you do besides Boss Hog?
I sing and play guitar in LO-HI.

Ever date a skateboarder?
I almost dated Mike Muir of Suicidal Tendencies, before he started Dogtown Skates. I met him at a party in someone’s backyard hanging out by the keg.

What’s the stupidest thing you can remember him doing?
When Mike Muir called to ask me out my brother answered the phone and asked who it was. At first he said “Mike” and then my brother asked “Mike who?” and he said “It’s Caesar you little punk put your sister on”.

Is Boss Hog all about sex?
DUH.

How long have you had dreadlocks, and why? Don’t they smell?
I had (had being the operative word) dreadlocks for 10 years and they did not smell because I bleached the roots once a month.

Do you only go out with guys who have dreadlocks?
Absolutely not.

Tell me why you are releasing the new album on Valentines Day.
Because its the best holiday.
