Fourt33n Minutes Left… is currently planning a series of skate competitions in partnership with The Cordova Recreation and Parks District and Sacramento Parks and Recreation with the proceeds benefitting local sports and music programs. This series will include three separate competitions over six weeks held at The Mather Skate Park (Sept. 18), Power Inn Skate Park (Oct. 2), and B Street Skate Park (Oct. 23) in the Sacramento area. Events will include performances by some of the most talented local bands in northern California who have volunteered their time, a scored skate competition over the three events, and a best individual trick competition at each event. MIKE Vs GLORY BOUND SKATEPARK TOUR 2010 will hit 24 U.S. cities this summer. The month-long traveling festival, which will feature a unique mix of skate competition and fan participation, is set to kick off on July 18 in Mesa, Arizona and conclude in Simi Valley, California on Aug 18. DROPPING IN – An exciting display of Jax’s rich skateboard history will be on exhibit throughout the Summer at a local history museum, Consisting of vintage photos, videos, and skateboard equipment. A documentary will be featured detailing the origins of the Rattown crew, as well as The Z-East Team, the Dogtown connection, the evolution of Kona Skatepark, and more! The exhibit will be dedicated in honor of Bob Biniak, a great friend and original Z-Boy, who suffered a fatal heart attack while visiting here in February. NEIL YOUNG NEWS – Music legend Neil Young will perform several shows in the Gulf Coast in September to aid residents affected by the oil spill. Young has teamed up with his friend John Tyson, chairman of Tyson Foods, Inc., which will donate 100,000 pounds of chicken products to be distributed to the Bay Area Food Bank. Tyson will deliver four truckloads of chicken, the equivalent of almost 400,000 meals, to the Bay Area Food Bank, which serves Central Gulf Coast communities in Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi. Young is also asking concert-goers to bring non-perishable food items, which will be given to the food bank. QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE – Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal have confirmed a benefit appearance at Los Angeles’s Club Nokia for Thursday, August 12th. FORMER PENNYWISE FRONTMAN, JIM LINDBERG LANCHES NEW BAND, THE BLACK PACIFIC – After twenty years of touring and releasing records with Pennywise, Jim Lindberg has started a new band straight out of Hermosa Beach. UPROAR FESTIVAL – The first annual Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival launches August 17 in Minneapolis, MN and will visit arenas and amphitheatres across North America before wrapping October 4 in Madison, WI. WE WERE FEARED – This film chronicles the rise and fall of The Cuckoos Nest, a famous Socal Punk Rock Club that was not only the birthplace of slam dancing but a key incubator to the surf, skate and extreme sports culture of today. WARPAINT: BLACK TO BASICS – August 13 – December 4, 2010 – Instinct Gallery and Jaded Lotus present: WARPAINT features the most talented, creative artists Des Moines has to offer, working out of their element, in the purest form. WARPAINT is a bracketed live art competition focusing on raw energy and the ability to create in a somewhat controlled environment. RABBIT KEKAI LONGBOARD CLASSIC – KICKER presents the Toes on the Nose Rabbit Kekai Longboard Classic August 24-27, 2010 in Waikiki, Hawaii. After 13 years in Costa Rica, this epic international competition crossed the Pacific in 2009 to be held in Hawaii in honor of its namesake, Albert Rabbit Kekai, one of the last living Beach Boys and an original member of the Outriggers Boys Club. GIDGET DOCUMENTARY – ACCIDENTAL ICON: THE REAL GIDGET STORY will have its Hollywood Premier at the 2010 FEEL GOOD FILM FESTIVAL (fgff.org), Saturday August 14th, 1:30 pm. (Doors open at 1 pm.) The venue is the landmark Egyptian Theater (American Cinematheque), now totally renovated and state-of-the-art. Kathy ‘Gidget’ Zuckerman, the central subject of the 60-minute documentary, will attend the Premier with the director and members of the cast and crew.The film first screened in March at Australia’s Noosa Festival of Surfing, the biggest surfing event in the world, and was hailed as a ‘Huge success’ by surf media impresario Peter Townend. HAWAII WATERMAN HALL OF FAME – www.dukefoundation.org The Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation (ODKF) and Primo Beer announced today that they have teamed up to create a hall of fame recognizing Hawaii’s accomplished watermen and waterwomen.The inaugural class of the Hawaii Waterman Hall of Fame will be honored at the first-ever Hawaii Waterman Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Outrigger Canoe Club on August 24, the 120th anniversary of Duke Kahanamoku’s birthday. Nine ocean and water sports legends of Hawaii are in the inaugural class of inductees, including three posthumous honorees:

EAST COAST WAHINE CHAMPIONSHIP: A WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH SUMMER TRADITION. surfer girls rule on August 15 when wahines of all ages ride the waves during the 14th Annual East Coast Wahine Championship at Wrightsville Beach. All eyes will be on the surf action just south of Crystal Pier (near the Oceanic Restaurant) when the East Coast’s largest all-female surfing competition gets underway. The competition begins at 8:00 AM and lasts until 5:00 PM on Sunday. Deadline for entry is August 1 or when all slots are filled. Entry forms are available online via www.eastcoastwahines.com
