“Jim Marshall documented some of the most important historical and cultural moments in our country. His photographs are amazing raw material to work with, and it’s incredibly meaningful for me to create art based on these images. My aim was to amplify them by bringing something new but also remain true to the feeling that Jim captured.” – Shepard Fairey

WE THE PEOPLE CAMPAIGN AT THE WOMEN’S MARCH
On January 10th, Aaron Huey and Shepard Fairey, with the help of the Amplifier Foundation, launched the “We The People” Kickstarter; a nonpartisan campaign dedicated to igniting a national dialogue about American identity and values through public art. At this Friday’s opening of American Civics, Shepherd and his team will be passing out 17 x 30″ prints in honor of Saturday’s Women’s March! If you plan on marching this Saturday in Downtown, Los Angeles, carry these signs high with pride! If you can’t make it to the show, the posters are available to download for free here.
Shepard Fairey spoke to CNN via Skype about the We The People campaign. If you didn’t have a chance to catch it live, click here to watch it!
