PAUL SPENCER: A PORTRAIT OF BRITISH SUB-CULTURE: Part of the Best of British Festival, the exhibition will be the first public viewing of Paul’s rare and sought-after fine art prints of celebrities such as Morrissey, Elvis Costello, Blur, Robert Carlyle, Shane MacGowan and Sex Pistols. The exhibition theme throws focus on the best of British sub-culture, combining the celebrity with the stripper, the gangster, the seventies gang bikers and the ordinary man on the street. A mix of black & white and subterranean blue/green colour photography, this will be a must-see for music fans, film fans, gangster enthusiasts and documentary lovers.
The Private View at Rich Mix will be followed by a performance of TEN MEN – The Lives of John Bindon – Directed, filmed and produced by Paul Spencer featuring a theatrical one man play with a backdrop of original and arresting film footage and soundtrack. A mix of celebrity, gangland, strippers and the wild and wonderful man on the street; the exhibition, and accompanying book, celebrates Britain’s rich and subversive tableau of sub-cultures in an Olympic year when all eyes are focused on what makes Britain truly great.
A quality linen-covered hardback book (published by subversive Unbound) will accompany the exhibition: A collectible limited edition, signed treasure. Books and prints will be available for sale throughout the event.
